... breeding before, breeding now, and will be breeding in the future. Homosexuality doesn't necessarily stop the urge to have and raise kids, and regardless, it's not a sufficient portion of the population to meaningfully impact the growth rate. There is literally absolutely zero legitimate population concern related to the issue of homosexuality. None, at all. Population growth just doesn't work that way.

You want an actual target for declining population growth, look to industrialization and gender equality. Those are more or less the two big causes.
...Industrialisation? Please, do elaborate.

Industrialization reduces the need for manual labor because more tasks can be done by fewer people. As opposed to an agrarian economy which is labor intensive (so you breed kids and put them in the fields as soon as they are older enough to work.) Also (generally speaking) mortality rates are lower in industrialized nations so you have less replacement breeding. As income rises, life expectancy rates rise and birth rates fall. It's been a trend that's been true for most industrialized nations (although it should be qualified that not all industrialization is equal across the world, there are many other factors that impact quality of life.)

Going to the doctor for a physical, had to be driven there by my stepdad who insisted on taking all four dogs with us. Along the way, he's giving me shit about not having a license, not being a large enough source of income for him(he also apparently blames me for the existence of taxes), and how I'm not "independent" enough. The last one is pretty goddamn funny, actually, given that my parents do stuff like intercept my mail, and telling the pharmacy to go directly to them about my prescription information and not to tell me anything, both of which I'm pretty damn sure are illegal. They're giving me shit about not being independent, but at the same time try to cripple any chance of me actually being independent at every chance.

Then there's the visit to the doctor's. Luckily, there wasn't any particular issue, though it's never fun getting four needles; one for to draw bloodwork(which also required not eating all morning), one to prick my finger for a probably unnecessary HIV test(came back negative, as expected), and one each for a HPV vaccine(hurt like hell going in) and a tetanus vaccine(hurts like hell now, a day later). And for some reason, the doctor gave me a referral to see a psychiatrist, which I'm not going to bother with because of the 50% chance they won't take my insurance, and the fact the issue to discuss with the psychiatrist hasn't really been a problem in years, depending on the where the line between mental problems and the normal reaction to the shit I deal with(see above paragraph) is.

AAA games and their insistence that "the future" is playing a game on your PC and picking up your tablet between lives to do more shit.

I swear to god, it's like the video game industry and the smartphone/tablet industry are in collusion. "Hey, you waste inordinate amounts of effort making sure our devices are somehow useful for your game, and we'll put your game the commercials for our products."

Yes, I know you're out there, guy who believes your phone and tablet will save the world, who spends their every free moment doing something on your mobile device. You're not the market. You're a symptom of it, of the obsession with gadgetry, gimmicks and trends.

Plus it also excludes us gamers who don't have a smartphone/tablet. Snake and tetris being the sum total of my mobile gaming, and also eternally enjoyable.

What really pisses me off is AAA developers who think everybody is just fucking loaded. Like every consumer of their product has loads of free time and money (protip: most people either have on or the other), as well as a house in a nice area with a stable connection to the internet.

A perfect example is the PR official for EA games, who, when he was questioned on how Simcity online's policy on always-connected gaming affected people living in rural areas, simply suggested that it wasn't his problem, and that maybe they should move to an area with better internet. UGGGGH EA GAMES

on an unrelated note, holy shit it's only four o'clock and already the fucking rain is coming back in force. What the hell Georgia? What the hell?

when did he say that?

Pretty sure he was talking about converting straight people. Which still doesn't make any sense, but whatever.

I mean what specific game/games spurred this angry reaction. Because I have never heard of something like that.

Battlefield 4. The launcher for BF3 is actually a webpage, called the Battlelog, which both launches you into a server and tracks your stats and your friend's stats. No one really liked it when they implemented it for BF3, rightly asking "why the fuck do I need to launch a web page to play a game on my hard drive?"

Well, EA is doubling down on it with BF4. On the one hand, not all the features are bad. You can view the in-game map with your tablet/phone, set objectives, which I guess? is kind of nice (although who is such a wonk that opening the map on your PC game screen is such a burden?)

But on the other, it's just total overhyped bullshit. "Oh, on your way home you can check your stats, set up new gear/class profiles and see what servers your friends are playing on, so when you get home you can get into the action with the click of one button!"

....Ok, and are people supposed to do that in traffic, or are all the upwardly mobile hipster fucks you're aiming this at all going to be riding the bus?

And seriously, the last thing I want to do when I'm at my PC is take out another fucking device and mess with it. I'm on a goddamn PC, I don't need another device. It's pointlessly complicating things in the name of selling more goddamn phones and tablets.

It's honestly, too, about the energy that gets invested not only into developing this shit, but promoting it as well, that bothers me. This isn't a service that arose to meet demands, this is a service someone is trying to convince you want, maybe even need. Why? Because Mobile, that's why! It is its own reason for being now, completely untied to what it practically brings to the table. And when I think about all the things that AAA games today AREN'T DOING....it makes me want to stab someone in the throat with a pencil for squandering time, money, energy, trust and industry willpower on frivolous shit like this.

Other games you can add this kind of feature to: Watch Dogs and the new Tom Clancy game.
