Don't judge an individual by his race.
Don't judge a race by an individual.

When you break those tenets, shit like this happens.

Thing that made me rage today?

Cleaning mold out of my expresso maker. Noticing the french press is cracked on the inside and therefore totally unusable.

I know that this will be controversial and all, but this thread is all about people's personal life and opinions right? So....

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Justice, and now everyone can finally shut up about this non-issue.

Hmm. Did anyone determine whether the dude actually attacked him?
Yep.
So did he or no?

Gave you a mathmetician's answer.
That's no excuse to avoid being helpful.

I know, but it's still correct.

Quite a few people, when they see the opportunity, will give you the mathematician's answer. Even in court.
'Can you describe to me the events that happened at X?'
'yes.'
I happen to frequently use those too, but that doesn't stop me from subsequently elaborating before my conversation partner gets pissed off.

It was unintentional, I'm preoccupied with trawling through the court case. I consider it an investment of energy into a more productive answer.

Are you serious here? Yes, the guy attacked Zimmerman first. Zimmerman was following Trayvon, Trayvon went up to him and asked him if he had a problem. He then proceeded to punch Zimmerman in the face, knocking Zimmerman down, and then jumped on him and started beating on him and slamming his head onto the concrete.

I haven't even heard of this thing until a few hours ago, so yes I was.
Regardless of Trayvon attacking him, he shouldn't have killed him and should serve a sentence of some sort for it.
Then again, that's in my hypothetical law system.

He also tried to grab his holstered gun saying something along the lines of "You're going to die tonight."

So yeah. Do your own research, as long as it isn't from a mainstream news site.

There's... not any actual evidence for any of those things. Those things were certainly possible (which is why he was found not guilty), but I think you're going well beyond  what anyone but Zimmerman would know, and honestly from what I know of the human brain I doubt the truth of what happened is stored their either.

There was definitely, at some point, a punch thrown by Trayvon, and Zimmerman ended up on the ground, and Zimmerman shot Trayvon.

Beyond that, there's no way to know what the truth was.

It's actually unknown what happened. Zimmerman claims the above, there's no evidence that actually proves who assaulted who first. For all we know, Zimmerman walked up to him, said something, put his hands on Martin and THEN Martin started beating him up. Then he saw the gun, then the struggle became about the gun and Martin was killed.

All we have is what Zimmerman claims instigated the actual fight, that Martin was the aggressor. We don't have any factual evidence to prove that.

Ninja'd by GG.

I think the reality of what happened is a 30 year old adult tried to play tough guy with a 15 year old kid he thought was a punk, and it completely blew up in his face when this kid started beating the crap out of him (why we don't know.) And then he fell back on his gun and shot him. If Zimmerman really did lay hands on Martin first, I'd have done the same thing Martin did and started fighting back.

Yeah, if I'm walking alone at night and some stranger is clearly following me in their car, by that point I've taken inventory of any sharp or moderately sharp items in my pockets (keys, pens, ect), and am either getting a good grasp on them or slipping them between my fingers like makeshift brass knuckles.

And if he had them got out of the car in a confrontational manner and tried to lay hands on me, it would be sharp objects applied directly to the eye sockets to incapacitate, then run the fuck away and call the cops. Because when a hostile stranger follows and angrily confronts you, it's quite likely they aren't sober and could try damn near anything.
