Bloody parliament doesn't know how to internet.
Oh parliament, you so silly...
I need an aeroplane and flyers with random pornography on them. If they're going to try and shut off the internet then we need to help the computer illiterate. And also everybody else.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

I agree. We should save them with pornography flyers. Dropped from an aeroplane.

Sexual repression is a large factor in why some people turn into crazy rapists and such, so um... that might be more effective than you might think >.>

I'd honestly would think there are larger factors involved. Especially since "Crazy rapists" are less interested in the sexual aspects of the rape and more interested in the rapey aspects of rape.

Unless you believe the statistic that 1 in 2 women are raped.

Uh... the statistic is 1/6, and 1/3 if you've been to college.

And yeah, we've pretty thoroughly demonstrated by now that rape isn't about sex, but rather about power.

Even the people who are interested in having power over others have legitimate outs in the form of consensual BDSM. Yet... some people out there demonize the practice, despite it being perfectly safe with the right precautions (safewords/etc).

Sexual repression includes more than censoring pornography. It's a cultural thing.

Ohhh, I see you haven't been acquainted with the 50% rape rate for women statistic yet.

I don't know, I am really angry at all intentionally misleading statistics.

There are places where it's higher than 50%, just not likely the modern general US population.

And I imagine that "rape" is about anything in particular the same way "murder" or "child abuse" is. There's lots of reasons to do terrible things, and you usually end up with several of them factoring in at the same time in order for it to lead to something horrible.

'Air dropping of pornographic images has been up 50% in the last five years, and the number of reported rapes has been reduced by 30%!'

I just can't imagine something like that in the news.
The cultural attitude is the real problem. Air dropping porn probably wouldn't itself stop any rapes, but if a city actually allowed it, I'd imagine the rape rate to be relatively low compared to other cities. There are a lot of factors that go into rape rates, but I'd say sexual repression to be one of the largest ones.

Side note of rage, I was looking into the crime reports of my old state (Utah), and apparently they don't track male rapes. Only female ones. They do track female rapists though, assuming they're lesbian ones... O.o

They track female rapists?

Man I've been looking everywhere for stats like that. Saying "Of course men can be raped, men can rape men" gets the idea across, but being able to point to stats and say "And women rape men too. Nevermind what you think, it happens." would... help.
