Called into my manager's office.  He asks why my productivity has dropped so drastically.  I tell him it's to maintain that 99.98% accuracy they're now demanding in order to keep my job.  He tells me I'm just going to lose my job faster if I don't make productivity.  There's just no good way to approach this thing.  It takes meticulous, time-consuming process to make sure you recognize every time a shipment has some tricky catch to it, because the company's information structure is so horribly designed.  If we're not given the time to be meticulous, then the whole thing is random.  A whole bunch of people are going to get fired, and who disappears before they shut down the policy will be completely down to who is unlucky enough to pull the largest number of deceptive shipments out of the work queue.  They might as well fire people by drawing names out of a hat.

It's stressful as fuck.  I can't stand it.  I've never wanted so badly to just walk out and never look back.  I want to do every spiteful thing I can imagine.  If I get another MRSA infection, I'll probably sue.

So I recently got my home internet going, woo!
My roommate, who had previously been using a USB wireless device to connect to the internet, and always refused to let me use it on the basis of narrow and expensive bandwidth, just got home, and suddenly BAM internet slows to a crawl. I check what he is doing and he is on his computer, with at least five torrents going... Fuuuuuuck.

Australian internet is slow, his torrents are a bitch.
Got mine though. I know the admin passwords so I just reset the modem. Knowing the guy he will forget the re-enable his torrents. Internet is safe again... But for how long.

It really seems like he wants to fire you.

It's not him.  He's actually the nicest manager in the office.  It's some executive whose name I'll never even know, and our senior manager who is an epic rules/control freak.  It's not me, either.  This is coming down on everybody.

It baffles me that my phone is somehow able to send text messages while I'm talking on it and loading porn on Chrome while updating several apps in the background, but if I receive a text message while it's sending one, the whole text thing refuses to function for like 30 seconds.

When he's not looking go and enable the scheduler on his torrent client to throttle the downloads when you want to use it.

Well, shit, SG. Here's hoping they revert the process. Maybe I'm just a moron or something but if a process is going to result in the majority of your staff being laid off in the long term, either you aren't giving them enough training or the protocol is too stringent.

Probably more along the lines of "looking to make trumped up reasons to fire people so you don't have to pay unemployment" or something along those terms. Pretty much everything SG's mentioned is pointing to them intentionally making the bar impossible to reach so they have legally justifiable reasons to fire people. Assuming they even need one in his state, dunno.

Basically, they're not going to revet the process. The process is doing exactly what they intend it to do.

Yeah.  I have next week off, and I'll be using a good chunk of that to look for another job.  And on my 3rd QIP error (4th=fired), I'll be turning in my two week notice whether I have another job lined up or not.  I'd rather quit than be fired.
