I just find it dumb to put so much effort into a pointless hoax. I dont even find it to be a particularily good troll, as I dont even feel particularily annoyed. I bookmarked the original thread to check it periodically for updates. When the hoax surfaced, I unmarked it. THat's about it.

He got attention, including some negative press. Successful troll was successful. He wasn't expecting /positive/ reactions to it.

On a plus side, it had me post my first Thread on Something Awful, and has over 300 posts at this point

What bands does he listen to and what bands does he dislike?Those football fans may have been an insane fan of some shitty pop band.

I really doubt that he went and screamed in their faces what bands he likes and then went on to stomp all over their musical tastes, it's just those kind of people, looking for a fight first and for a reason second, the worst thing is most of the city is like that, and with the fighting styles you really don't have much choice but to run (the commonly accepted one is gang-banging where you need to outnumber your oponent atleast 5-1)
