If any major country lost power for a week, it'd be pretty bad. No refrigeration means food goes bad, if the weather is really hot that could mean heat-related deaths, hospitals would likely run out of generator power and lose life support...the list goes on.
Don't forget the loony demagogs whipping up a frenzy in the crowds of hungry, overheated, sick people wandering around the streets because there's nothing else to do and trying to create sovereign nations out of nothing. That would just be awes-

-awful. I said awful.

My god please let this happen. I mean... Did... Did I say that out loud? Oh shit.

Also, I want to sign up to be a loony demogogue. Is there some kind of backround check for this position?

I may, in fact, fit both of those qualifications. *Dons demogogue uniform*

Yeah... Most sane Christians tend to consider WBC as it's own religion. It's own angry, angry, religion. In fact, I think that the WBC is confusing God with some kind of Khorne/Armok mix.

Now that I think about it, that makes so much sense.

I just found out tonight that a few of my catholic friends were shown some Exorcism movies when they were young and their parents assured them that they were real. Obviously, they had all sorts of nightmares and stuff because of it. Just... that's borderline child abuse. I can't believe people think that's okay.

The Entertainer. Has been stuck in my head. On repeat. For the last hour and a half. Straight. I cannot get it to stop. It has given me a headache. I would like to sleep.

God. Damn. Ragtime.

Quit.

Borderline? Exorcisms involves tying a children to a bed, depriving them of food, water and sleep and screaming at them. There is nothing borderline about it.

I believe the abuse in question was showing scary films and saying they were real. Which probably isn't child abuse, unless you can prove some serious mental trauma and not just nightmares. I mean, parents tell ghost stories and such all the time to young kids and say they were real.

Still rage worthy due to the whole lying to kids thing, but I rage about Santa Claus for the same reason so maybe I'm just nuts.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

You're also assuming that the parents were lying.  Plenty of adults believe in exorcism, and don't read too deeply into Hollywood marketing claims of "based on a true story".
