What the page doesn't talk about is all the fun stuff that you can do with a couple pumps, pressure plates and magma-safe floodgates and hatches, elves and goblins  ;)

I find arenas are a more entertaining use for goblins. Magma is just too easy. Its too efficient.

How do i build a magma forge?Because i don't think it would be very smart for a dwarf to stand in the middle of something and make a forge.

Wow.....just wow my first  attempt at magma forge = epic fail
I struck into the volcano and the lava RUSHED out and consumed my little bearded alchoholics.

channel out to where you will build a magma smelter, but do not build it yet, then build it over the channel so that there is at least one tile of the smelter that is over the lava, there you have it

And if the channeled hole is over the oven bit of the forge, the nasties living in the magma can't jump up to kill your metalsmith.
