« on: June 11, 2010, 12:26:10 pm »

im getting heavy lags which mean i get 76 fps on a imported 31.03 save which i used to get 200+ fps on in the old version

any ideas to what could be the cause?

No. But considering it's still crazily fast, I wouldn't worry about it.

Omg I would love to have my game run at 76 fps.
I have never played with more than 100 to be honest, and it is only possible in the first year. In usual fortress I get around 30 fps if am lucky, sometimes lower.

At 218 dwarves I'm running about 11 fps max, but that's partly due to design.

76 is a blessing.

Don't make fun of people with worse PC. There's a lot of other stuff like graphical card type and single/dual core which affect this greatly.

yea true but this was a 6x7 embark spot with 40 or so dwarves on a semi good laptop :P but do any of you have any idea why the merge runs so much worse than 31.03 for me?

6x7? Cool. I have to play on 4x4 or 5x5 to get a normal speed.

Did you try different graphical modes avaliable?

I take offense to this thread.

That's the great thing about this forum. We can derail any discussion into any other topic.

I got heavy lag when I got a forgotten beast that was trying to path to the surface. All previous beasts that spawned in this game seemed to be content to hang out in the caverns, but this one took a beeline straight to my stairwell to the surface.

Once it hit the surface (and was killed by my war jaguars) the lag disappeared.

Check if you have any hidden cavern creatures (or even HFS) that are trying to path somewhere.

well maybe people who have "worse PC" shouldn't post in this thread just to complain about their own FPS then. ;)

Kartik, it's probably a stupid question, but did you check you have the same options than your other version in the "init" file? (drawing mode, maybe temperature off? )

Where else can we complain? :/ Hell I've never seen my fps go above 15. But seriously, don't complain about 76 fps, when it takes me HOURS to pass a season.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that there can be some underground stuff going on or building destroyers could appear on the map. What happens if you save the game and re-open it in the previous version?

i decided to delete the save and go to a much smaller map (3x3) now i have my lovely 230 fps at 35 dwarves :)

wish i had my old big save though :/ but 40 dwarves is not a huge loss
