The one linked in OP is not - while the core game is v0.34.11 and the latest version, it's about a year behind with all the other contents.

Get this version instead, as it is up to date, and has more utilities too - it's even (I think) a little newb-friendly-er because the recomended settings are all on by default.  Good luck!

But read the last page of the thread before posting.  Seriously.

Quick question--if I start a fortress with Invaders off, can I later turn invaders back on again?

Yes, everything on the GUI (except aquifers) can be turned on or off at any time.

Very nice work, thanks :)

Just one thing : the Phoebus' Graphic Set version is "0.34.11v01", in the Lazy Newb Pack, it's "0.34.11v00".

Changes :
Quote
*Updated* 0.34.11v01
Sand wall tiles are now much brighter and their pattern is slightly easier to tell apart from sand floors.
Doren's creature tiles now have a background.
The ";" tile has been stolen from Ironhand. (jez9999 made me do it!)
The gem wall symbols association has been redistributed. Tier 1 for gems worth 2-3, T2 for 10-15, T3 for 20-30, T4 for 40-60.
The crow man graphics has been fixed. (Thanks Meph.)
Square 3D walls engravings have been fixed.
The default tileset now has meld embossed walls and flat grass.

Is an update of LNP planned ?

Sadly, this pack seems unlikely to ever update, and its not just Phoebus that's out of date - literally every other component is too.

Luckily, I got sick of this and created my own updated version - you can find it here.  As well as being updated, it is also includes many more utilities and all the latest bugfixes.

-------------------------------

Update/bump - the cross-platform version is now quite usable, and a working pack for Mac is available.  No one has volunteered to assemble a linux version yet though, so if you're interested have a look on the thread

Is the OP ever going to be updated?

Hey PeridexisErrant, thank you very much for your effort.
Sadly this thread and especially the OP is very deceptive to new players as it gives a wrong impression of up-to-dateness. I myself was playing the last 2-3 months with the outdated LNP without suspecting that there could be an (third-party) update. I didn't bothered to read the last few pages of this thread or even the whole 135 pages. There is a big chance that there are many more new players who unknowingly download the old version linked in the OP.

So my suggestion would be for you to open a new thread for your great updated version and to ask the mods to add a note to the OP of this thread indicating that it is out-dated. Ideally also adding a link to the new thread. This would help stop a lot of confusion.

Edit: I just saw that there actually is a new thread. The link is a little bit hidden, not appearing in the main readme but in the extention called something with batch scripts.
Afterall I still think it would be a good idea to add some kind of note to the OP of this thread.

Thanks, and keep up the good work.

The link is available in the 'links' menu of the new LNP - the file just called 'readme' is for that program, rather than the whole pack.  It's a little confusing but to change it further would be difficult to maintain; I can give the other readme a better name though (thanks for the feedback).

The OP of this thread is listed as last active 29 May, and there's not much that can be done; only Toady or ThreeToe can change it and they tend to have a hands-off policy.  Basically I just hope that people check the end of this thread, and if I find a link back here somewhere I try to get it changed.

For newbies:  here's the updated version for windows, and the OP is out of date to claim windows-only - here's a Mac edition

Where can I find a list of commands for the lazy newb pack please?
Google is no help at all and neither is the .txt file.
I've been finding commands like autodump in various threads here but I would really like a comprehensive list of what the program can do.
