Apparently a lot of people appreciate the newb pack !

Understatement of the year.  I personally appreciate it with the overwhelming force of a thousand grateful nuns.

Agreement.

Certainly you could argue that DF is a lot like The Sims, only... you know... with more vomit and decapitation.
If you launch a wooden mine cart towards the ocean at a sufficient speed, you can have your entire dwarf sail away in an ark.

You could of just downloaded it from the DT thread, it was working in 34.11 the day it came out.

HELL YEAH!! Now I'm playing the most sweet, sweet DF game ever, with my world just the way I like it. I hope I can enjoy it long enough before the world activate!

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?

What this "world activate" you talking about? Maya end 12-12-2012 or dawrf in game event?

Killing dwarves is so much fun. Heck, even the dwarves agree, else they wouldn't kill themselves so often.

IMO, Lazy Newb Pack should include optional mod to reduce the amount of tree types, body parts and clothing, to increase FPS on slow computers.
Like what Masterwork used to do before it turned into a crappy mess of dumb features.

I definatly second this.
But obviously they should all be optional modules.

I think they also had something for simplifying leather and stone types/ores

That would've been great. I've been using Masterwork for the sole reason of simplifying my game a touch (I really don't like stuff like "Small Giant Cat Leather Boots" or "You smash third right tooth with your left second finger", and I assume many others don't) but Masterwork have completely lost it now and it's much more convenient to use LNP for me now.

It would've been great if LNP features an option to simplify the game that way. I'm sure that many people would agree with me.

I was going to do a GUI update to remove/change some buttons, but that may have to wait (or maybe I will take a couple more hours to do that).
If I remember, I should at least remove the Economy button and the Exotics button, right?

Yeah, since the econmoy never activates anyway, and the new training makes the Exotics button obsolete.  If you're going to add buttons, I'd suggest at least one that toggles which labors immigrants have activated when they first come to the fort.
