I would like to thank you for your efforts, I wouldn't have played DF without your pack.

Great! I was just going to start a new fortress, since Toady warned about save file corruption in the one I started last week, so this is great timing.

THANK-YOU!

Hey guys, I just wanted to report a little bug I had.

Upon deleting my old lazy newb pack folder, redownloading the new one, and installing pheobus graphics, I had a problem upon starting the game. Seems the mouse art was gone from the art folder. So I copy it on in. I start the game, and the truetype fonts don't work. Ok, whatever, no big deal. After exiting the game later, it seems that Lazy Newb didn't save preferences such as no economy, higher pop cap etc. etc. Weird. It also deleted the mouse art again.

To fix, I had to delete the old ZIPS and the newly downloaded folder and ZIPS, and then empty my recycle bin. I tried deleting and redownloading without emptying the bin, and it didn't work. Tried redownloading without killing the zips, didn't work. Working fine now. Running WIN7.

::EDIT::
Upon getting off my a** and READING THE THREAD TITLE I feel foolish. But the other problems still count  8)
I'll leave my stupid newbie mistake for you to amuse yourselves with at my expense. Good day.

Just FYI about configuration of soundsense in latest LNP: dropbox is slightly pissed off for abusing it do distribute so much data, so there is change of pack auto update location. This is, once again, current URL for automated update:

Code: [Select]
<autoUpdateURL path="http://df.zweistein.cz/soundsense/soundpack"/>
Sorry for inconvenience.

Lazy Newb Pack works great, but I finally got around to trying Dwarf Therapist, and it tried to access the Internet. Anyone know what that's all about? Is it legit?

It locked up tighter than hell when my firewall blocked it.

Hey guys, I just wanted to report a little bug I had...
Some of the problems don't really make sense to me. Deleting .zip files should have no effect whatsoever at all.
If you experienced problems where settings seem to have been reverted or not saved, I'm willing to bet its because you installed the graphics after changing your settings. Everytime you change your graphics, the settings get reset to whatever settings that pack has. (Also maybe if you try to change them while playing the game it won't work either? Not sure.)

i keep getting a can't find dwarf fortress when i try to run the lazy newb pack executable...
1) Are all the files and folders there? Like is there a Dwarf Fortress folder with Dwarf Fortress.exe?
2) Make sure you don't put the pack in a system-protected location on your computer. Try moving the pack to a new place, like your desktop.

Lazy Newb Pack works great, but I finally got around to trying Dwarf Therapist, and it tried to access the Internet. Anyone know what that's all about? Is it legit?
Dwarf Therapist automatically downloads updates for compatibility with new versions. It is legit, but I don't see why blocking it would stop it from working altogether.

EDIT:
I would really like to know why there's always these warnings popping up whenever I choose one of the custom embark profiles that come with the pack.
Where you embark affects what items are available.
If an embark profile asks for certain kinds of items (especially a specific kind of wood) that the place doesn't have near it, it'll give you an error and you'll have to choose other items to replace it with.
Press "p" (for "Problems") in the preparation screen to see what items were not available in your location.

OK, thanks. I'm always a little leery of letting free software use the internet however it pleases. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. I really didn't expect a problem with this, but I couldn't see why it would be necessary for Dwarf Therapist, either.

Thanks again. I'll change my firewall settings and try it that way.

DFHACK .34.02 is out now. Can it be included in the lazy pack?

It's very easy. Just download it and extract it to your DF folder (not the LNP folder). That's it.

To upsate to the latest version do I just unzip into the Dwarf Fortress folder in the lazy newb directory?
