Wow, well I knew there was a bunch of redditing, but they only just put up a link on the sidebar. That's really cool!

Just figured I'd give this pack a thumbs up!
While I have since moved on to various mods and such, I probably would never have tried Dwarf Fortress if it wasn't for this pack.
Keep it up! :D

Hmmmmm. Is the OP layout better or worse?
Trying to keep things from getting cluttered... but I don't know if I did a good job of it.

Also YEAH FOR BEING LAZY

How exactly would I update to the new version? Just paste over my old files?

the instructions are right there on the main post!

Help: Move savegames to a new version

I guess you /could/ paste over your old files... but this is easier and makes sure you don't get stuff mixed together (like old utilities + new utilities).

Nice with the stumbleupon. I tried searching for it with no luck though.

I tried my hand at some terrible Photoshop title stuff.
I may make some more fancy graphics/screens after the next version of DF and this pack are made.

I think the y should maybe look like an y.

So we got monsters above, monsters below, dwarves in the middle and a party in the dining hall. Sounds good to me.
If all else fails, remember one thing:  kittens are delicious, nutritious little goblin-baiters, cavern explorers, and ambush-finders.

How has World Viewer not been added to this yet?

Oh my Gouda,
OVER 10,000 DOWNLOADS!
Actually more like 15,000 counting old versions and mirror downloads! (and I don't even have drop.io's numbers)!

To be honest the last time I looked I didn't think it was very newb friendly. It's more for those who already know DF and want to look deeper into their world.
It also wasn't very intuitive to use. It looks like its improved quite a lot now though, although still maybe confusing for new players.
I'll probably add it to the next pack though.

What I MAY end up doing is separating out the pack.

But that wouldn't quite be as lazy-like.

If I can make a suggestion on your idea about the package?

Keep it one package but hide the "advanced" utilities one folder deeper so there won't be as many folders staring a lazy newb in the face, but I can still be lazy and get every thing in one nice package.

I would put Quickfort in the basic pack, as it helps new (and old) players a lot.  You could also put some useful sample (and fancy) files in there, as the ones that come with Quickfort are pretty useless.  I could upload my files for

@Still Standing: If you or anyone else would put together a few useful quickfort files, that would be incredibly awesome! I'd just have to remember to include them every time... Also would they work for both versions of Quickfort?

@Dwarven Smokeologist: Keeping advanced utilities another folder deep is a good idea. I had the idea myself once but forgot. I shall do that for next pack.

Man, I don't even know how to use Quickfort, even after the Readme. Could someone put together a comprehensive howto for 'tards, please?
