So just out of curiosity why is some dude's glasses from some anime so special?

Actually that was not a nametag, apparently it says contact.
Makes sense.
"GDI Mk. II Zone Contact Armor."

Or something. I doubt there is a name tag on GDI armor, considering all the GDI Soldiers I have seen had no nametag at all.

It does say "Conrad". Believe it or not.
