World War One Medic
« on: June 09, 2010, 09:33:01 pm »

I just wanted to know if anyone has made an attempt to improve the game, work on it, or release any sort of updates? On the page is says that a partial source is available so I was wondering if anyone had done any work on it?

I'd also be interested in this, I'm enjoying playing it while waiting for the re-done world gen stuff to come out on DF.

I would actually like them to release a "WWI Officer". It would be so badass.

"Attack", "Retreat", "Creeping Barrage", and "Shell Our Positions" does not sound like a terribly fun game.

I should probably have my head checked, because I find myself in complete agreement with Nikov.

I love this game, and play it all the time. Record of taking... 4 trenches, I think.

I also, would like to know if any improvements have been made on it.

So what's everyone's high score, then? Mine is one trench, 9368 points.

Here.
"winning" combinations:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This isn't strategy, this is one of those games where you have to guess an arbitrary "correct" combination.
"Hurr your arty fell short and killed you instead, your gas fell short and killed you instead and your fighters flew into an explosive filled blimp."

Also, the thing that looks like a landmine and is presented as a landmine "ingame" is actually a sapper tunnel according to the description. Using it simply makes the game tell you that you suck at placing them either way.

Yeah. That's not a game, just an interactive history lesson. It says that any tactics you think you could use actually wouldn't work, the technology wasn't really offensively oriented, and that at best you will push for a stalemate, lose whatever gains you made, and be awarded a medal. yay.

For a history lesson, it's a bad one.
Fighter planes ALWAYS try to ram hostile gunpowder storage blimps, artillery never hits anything, mines never go off correctly, gas never affects the enemy, MG crews are lazy bastards, recon doesn't say anything other then "enemies that way", infantry dies with a stiff breeze and tanks fall apart on their own.

Yes, the western front was a bad place to be but that wasn't because anybody not you was terminally stupid.
