It actually looks realy good. Good director, decent looking cinematography and art style, interesting story. They even got Michael Cera to stop doing the exact same character he's been doing since Arrested Development!

Er, they did? I just saw the exact same Michael Cera I've seen in the last three movies he's been in. (Most recently Zombieland and Juno.) The only difference was the fight scene.

I love the director, and the concept seems funny....I'm just not a fan of Michael Cera. He's got all the awkwardness of Napoleon Dynamite without the rebel nerdiness that makes him lovable. Michael Cera is just awkward, a dork-to-riches story every time, and I'm sick of those male leads. Damn you 40-Year-Old-Virgin.

Huh. I read a plot summary of this and it made utterly no sense to me (or rather, it did, but I didn't understand how people liked it). Now I get it - a lot more tongue in cheek than I guessed. Looks like a very fun movie, actually.

Napoleon Dynamte was a terrible film if only because of how many other films tried to ape it's appeal after it got successfull.

I dunno, he doesn't seem as stupidly awkward as most of his other films. It certainly doesn't suffer from the same-plot-itis nearly all his other films suffer from (oh im a beek geek and am really into (insert quirky pop culture thing here) noone likes me for this. Oh i met the girl of my dreams. Oh she's also really into (insert quirky pop culture thing here) Now the thing everyone hated me for is the one thing that brings us together."

Seems like this film he's more of an active participant in the plot, actually going for the fights rather than having them just happen to him. Course that's just the impression I got from the trailer.

Zombieland is probobly a bad example of a Cera film though, it's one of the onle ones he's done that I thought was a seriously good film. It also doesn't rely on him being Cera-ey for the plot.

What kind of sense does that make?

The same is true of....like every good band ever, for a start.

I'd rather not watch some pussy of a character plow right through his awkwardness to get the girl.

Actually, there's two ways I'd watch a film like this, and it's probably not going to happen. If he finds out he's gay and stops chasing girls, or if the same storyline is with an awkward woman, since those aren't beaten to a pulp yet.

I'd have to agree. Napolean Dynamite isn't really funny until you realize it was made by Idahoan Mormons.

And if you do realize it was made by Idahoan Mormons and have been to Idaho, much like I have - and realized that parts of Idaho are exactly like Napolean Dynamite, then it ceases to be funny and just becomes sad.

This movie looks pretty interesting though, from a geeky point of view. <3 Shaun of the Dead.

EDIT: Mormons gave us and made Napolean Dynamite and Twilight popular. le sigh.

Holy shit. It's NOT Michael Cera. It's creepy how much they look (and act) alike. Eisenburg is like a gaunter, older version of Cera.

Mormons were behind Twilight too? ****.

Napoleon Dynamite was enjoyable for me because it was so offbeat. There were no Hollywood moments like the nerd-into-the-butterfly, out of place hot actress as a love interest, none of that.

I met Stephanie Meyer. She went to BYU, as I did (me being non-LDS).

People laugh when I tell them Twilight is a typical Mormon-dating love triangle of which I saw many while I was in attendance at BYU.

By the way, Speaker of the Dead and later Ender's Game books are based on the Book of Mormon in SPAAAAAAAAAAAACE. That's why they suck compared to Ender's Game.

God, meeting O.S. Card was such a disappointment for me.

I could have lived happily never knowing that. Glad I never made it farther than Ender's Game.

What was she like?

And, Mormon love triangle? Do tell more.
