Precisely. I can't really think of a form of government that didn't come into place because people were unsatisfied with the last one. Communism was no different. People didn't just turn to Communism because they'd tried everything else. In fact, if they had turned to Communism because they'd tried everything else, this sort of speaks badly for, well, everything except Communism.

Wait. Is he saying that you should share everything you have with others and work together for the betterment of your society free from greed when you're between 20-30? Clearly George has a) never been out clubbing and b) has no idea what the hell a person in that age range even looks like.

I don't think they had clubs way back when. George was from ye olde west or something.

So, if I understand what he's saying correctly, that quote is outdated and doesn't really work in today's society?

Or something?

I'm not sure why you brought it up to be honest.

He's saying Communism is a sophmoric idea that's popular among young student idealists who sit around on message boards all day, but people who have aquired ten years of adult wisdom will have learned better.

Also Voltaire was being ironic, and everyone who quips that in retort makes him chuckle in his grave.

Oh, I see. That's fairly clever.

Most of the people I've encountered in my party, outside of my soon-to-be-local, are 30+.

Yeah I know and it's a good point either way. Things dead people said are pretty poor substitutes for arguments and points, I think!

Karl Marx is dead.

There are a lot of Marxists who are still alive believe it or not but maybe I should be more clear. One-liners dead people said are bad substitutes for arguments and points.
