Has the birthrate improved? I had 100 childbirths in 4 years. With 50 females. Never have I reached my population cap this fast.

I don't think so; married femdwarves have tended to pop one out basically every year in the past. Maybe your dwarves are more idle in the new version, so have greater chance to socialise and therefore marry?

Could be. I have overproduction in everything and even had to halt farming for two years. But then the mega-projects kept them busy ;)
It's just that in every previous versions, I reached my population cap (100) with immigrants.
I noticed for the first time in 31.06 the announcement of marriages. Then the baby boom kicked in. Thought this was related.

Maybe you had lowered the childcap to something reasonable in 40d, and forgotten about it? I usually set it to ten or so.

I had a cap in 40d, but ever since 31.01 I used the default value. With the burrows it's much easier to keep the children save inside. It's just that I have the feeling that the birthrate increased from 31.03 to 31.06.
But, as you said, could be that my dwarfs are less productive at work and use their free time for other projects.

I also noticed an increased birthrate compared to 40d.

Ok, i'm noticing something strange. My dorfs kept failing to clean themselves, even when i put the soap bars right next to a pool designated as water source. This happens for a few years now, the same dorfs kept trying to clean and fail.

The dorf picks the soap up, walk a few tiles and put it back in the bin, repeatedly.

It's a known bug.  Several people already uploaded saves for Toady, so he should have all he needs to fix it.

Re birthrate: my DeadCiv fort that stopped getting migrants at 14 adult dwarves now has 12 babies 11 years in. 9 girls and 3 boys  ??? I think pretty soon there will be more children than adults  :D And also pretty soon every single person in the fortress will have artifacted because the size and wealth of the fortress so vastly outstrips the population.

Edit: within seconds of posting, another boy was born  :P

Out of the blue, one of my soldiers threw a tantrum and started a fist fight.

With a tiger. A trained war tiger.

The tiger is wounded, the soldier is currently attending a party.

 ???

I cried girlish tears when goblins butchered the war tigers and other wild cats I'd looted from the elves.

If we could armour them like we do dwarves, they'd be fine.  :-[

Yea, you can do this in the arena though.

Toady is going to have to tackle the fact that they don't have graspers (besides the mouth), but maybe we can have a workshop or use the kennels to make a job that creates armor for the animals and equips/unequips that armor. It is a cool idea for the suggestions section, but we'd have to wait until the military stuff is fixed and any material balance adjustments for combat.

I guess alamost everything has been suggested at some point, heh.

@ the current devlog: Maybe you should trim Scamps claws? Declawing is probably too drastic at this point unless he tries to maul everybody.

By the way, if you guys haven't, check out Scamp's page on DF Wiki. Probably the best page on the wiki in my opinion.
