It's more like how the recent Batman movies have been re-envisioned. Gritty. Dark. Brutal. Violent. Realistic. This might be a MK movie worth remembering.

The "find him and finish him" line killed it for me.  Transformers 4 was too recent.  I don't think I can stomach another "Let's make a bad movie and just nod to the fans of the old stuff a few times" situation.

I'm usually pretty jaded when it comes to action movies, but I'm surprised. It's not like there's a heap of justice to be done for the MK series. It had cool characters and violence, that's pretty much it. That gives people some creative license, I think anyways.

It was campy. Oh god it was campy. Campy music, campy lines, campy characters. Does it have camp value? Sure. Fuckwin? Eeeehhhhhh.

I was so prepared to like this but...I just can't. Giving the darker and edgier treatment to Mortal Kombat? Is that even necessary? Most of Mortal Kombats charm comes from the Ninja Specters and Cyborgs and Evil Sorcerers anyway, which they seem to have completely done away with. Scorpion is wearing a button-up shirt.

Especially considering Scorpion actually performs the GET OVER HERE move in-trailer! Definitely going to see it, but I'm definitely bringing liquor. A shot for every blatant reference to the games and previous movies.

It always makes me wonder when film companies take a pre-established universe and change the setting, characters, and plot to make it into a film... Why not just make your own stuff, or keep it true to the source?

This does look like it could be allright but as people have said, Mortal Kombat was always about the ridiculous moves and characters, you don't have to make it realistic to make it dark and gritty. It could still be shot in this style and have cyborgs and four-armed guys and whatnot.

Shang Tsung's shapeshifting will probably be reduced to a whole "Master of Disguise" bit. Scorpion is now just a really good assassin with manly stubble as opposed to a demon spectre hell-ninja. Jax is... well, no cybernetic arms for him.

No Thunder God, no multiverse, no Shao Kahn... This is like reducing M. Bison to a criminal overlord.
