How about the addition of an assassinate to the nobles screen.  Then a second use for meeting halls would be needed, as your dwarves conspire for a year.  With a certain number of dwarves needing to be included in the conspiracy based on the nobles rank.  Finally culminating a number of dwarves all coming together with the assassination job.

This could be an interesting addition leading to more politics and such.  Perhaps certain nobles would have to be in on the conspiracy when killing some other nobles.

Of course the addition of history and personal judgement really needs to be there for nobles.  I mean after the 12th Sheriff and 5th Hammerer were killed in yet another bizare "accident" you would think the new ones would tread a little lightly.
