Org's crewman cards reminded me of the Roman Emperor Card Game that was being made in Inaluct's 'I am Drawing Stuff' thread. It's back!
There are several kinds of cards. Emperors (Such as Commodus) are your standard 'Monster' cards. Monuments (such as Hadrian's Wall) induce effects. Artifacts (Such as a Scutum or Golden Bough) are added to an emperor, empowering them until they leave play. The Cards will be posted in the following three posts. Stats range from 1-10.
Strength - Used for attacks, this is defined by military might and FORCE of rule.
Stamina - HP, essentially. Dependent on LENGTH of rule.
Speed - Decides which emperor goes first. Dependent on TRICKINESS of rule.
Power - Ruling power, used for controlling other cards. Dependent on how LOVED they were in rule.
Anyone is free to join in and make cards, so long as they follow the rules on the post that contains the section they're adding to. Please use .png's. They have no artifacting. For text, use the font FangSong. For stats, use Fixedsys.
Okay, I thought about some rules for this
For start:
Each player takes three emperors from their deck, and puts them into play (choose one to be the current reigning emperor and the others to be senatorial). Then draws 4 cards from the deck.
Emperors have these stats:
Strenght: Matters when fighting against other emperors
Stamina: How many blows can the emperor take
Speed: During the combat phase, the emperor with higher speed attacks first, and Every card has a speed value. You cannot play cards in one turn that would have combined speed higher than your emperors. For ex. Gladius has speed 2 Fountains have speed 3 and your emperor has speed 3. You can only play one card right now. But the other will have to wait for the next turn
Power: How much your emperor can control. You cannot have cards in play that would have combined power higher than your emperors.
You cannot play cards if you can't afford them. If your remaining speed pool is 2 then you can only play cards that have 2 speed or less. If you have in play cards that have combined power higher than your emperor, then choose one card and put it into your graveyard. If the power of these cards will still be higher, then repeat the process
Why include such restrictions and costs similar to MtG mana, or Yu-Gi-Oh levels?
To maximise fun, and so that the play won't be determined by "who has better cards"
I have a lot more ideas, like winning conditions, card types, and other things, but I'd like to hear what you think about these first
For the hell of it, and because I actually playtested the game with my own rules (for winning condition, and battle). Tactic to have a lot of good (in fighting) emperors got destroyed by the rule I implemented recently (" When you start the game put 3 emperors from your deck to "ruling emperor" and "senatorial emperors". None of their stats can be higher than 5) mwahahaha. I'm the nemesis for broken games. I'll fix them all, my precioussssss!. Other than that I figured that 30 card decks are fine with 4 duplicate limit. We need to do WAY more items that boost stats. Do the math. You fight one on one. And you have 3 item slots. You can quickly overcome 5 strenght opponent emperor by equiping your emperor with 3 gladiuses (kinda improbable). So I decided to make cards for javelins, spears, daggers and short swords (they will all be weak and commonly found so they will build the basis of every deck
