Flutes dissolve in water?

Flutes are, for the most part, made of iron or steel (I think usually stainless steel). However, the adhesive for the water-retentive pads under the keys will dissolve in water, and when your pads are gone then the flute doesn't play right. I think the same goes for all woodwind instruments.

Oh, right, the pads. I was certain that nickel and silver didn't melt in rain. (Every flute I've seen uses nickel, silver, or a combination of the two. Are steel ones possible?)

I don't know, but you'd think a more durable metal would be used for flutes used in wartime.

Yeah, that's why they always use the children with sideways snare drums.

I can see how that conversation went...

We need ourselves a better way to communicate on the battlefield!

What about flutes?

No no, they're too flimsy, get broken easy. We need something more durable, can really take a hit...

Children with tightly stretched animal skins?

Brilliant!

The material doesn't matter very much in terms of producing sound, it's all about the distance between the various openings. My university physics class explored this. Although, come to think of it, a steel flute would probably be a good bit heavier.

Are you sure? I could have sworn that softer metals have a 'smoother' sound. However, some research has proven me wrong.

Game in 5 hours.

You know what's weird? I used to have guitar lessons at 3:00 in the afternoon, which was when Neruz usually hosted games. Now that I've moved my guitar lessons to 4:00 in the afternoon, Barb's pushed back the game start to then as well.
