DFG without Dwarf Fortress
« on: June 04, 2010, 02:33:02 pm »

I have a feeling that I am missing something very simple, but would someone please tell me where I can get (from the internet or which files I need to copy) a version of Mayday's DFG that does not come pre-applied to DF so that I can use it on the newest updates (2010) and reapply it to some older versions (40d).

Do I just copy data/art and the raws, or will this mess up saves?

Thanks

DFG already comes prepackaged with 31.03, but as for copying things, that's a bit more complicated, as some versions of DFG are designed for the opengl optimized versions of DF which treat graphics differently.

I realize one can get it prepackaged, but is there a way to get it unpackaged? If so, could I apply this to the newest releases?

Just take the art files out of the 'pre-packaged' version and transplant them into the new one.

Thanks.

Just the art files, nothing else right?

I think there's some init options you need to change, and a file that tells the game what to do with the graphics. Wouldn't know how that works, though.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

Also bear in mind that dwarves have their heads at a perfect height for a good face-kicking.
That's the great thing about this forum. We can derail any discussion into any other topic.

If this is what you are looking for, he still has his last 40d version (DFG22)  available for download on his website: http://mayday.w.staszic.waw.pl/~mayday/upload/DFG22.zip
