Also, Lorre did something very clever and had his friends surround the new player's town with occupying armies so the Valar player can't siege the new player out for being within 20 squares of him without destroying a camp and provoking it's owner. Now it appears that possibly Lorre and the Valar player are going 1-1 (Valar's player is _duq) so its a more fair fight.
EDIT: Also, to the devs: I have one bit of a request for the commander change. I think it's strange that basic cavalry commanders receive the 15% possible defensive bonus versus calvary rather than basic spearmen. This is even more true when the commander research for unit defense against cavalry is Square formations, which is traditionally an infantry defense against cavalry.
I think that either:
1: basic spears should have the 15% max unit commander bonus vs cavalry, archers 15% max vs spears, swords 15% max vs archers, cavalry 15% max vs swordsmen.
2: basic spears 15% max vs cavalry, archers vs swords, swords vs spears, cav vs archers
Of the two, I think I like the first second as it seems a little more balanced and makes a little more sense. Plus I figure since there are no horse archers in Illyriad for playable races, they are most likely a European based culture and thus they would have used shields as well as two handed weapons for their infantry, although that raises the question of why there would be no shield usage among spear troops. I suppose the archers vs swords can be explained by saying swords are two handed specialist troops while the spear users wield shields also.
EDIT2: Also, another small request for your art department. When you get around to making art icons that differentiate basic from adv cavalry for example on the barracks production screen, could you make Dwarven Packsmen (basic cavalry) artwork be of a dwarf riding a cow? It fits their description.
Also it would be cool if some work there were a bunch of different icons to choose from for your units, especially if you were free to modify them with different colors on your own and re-upload them. The base design would be like a pencil drawing you'd fill in with color. If there were a hundred of them there would be a lot of variety, especially if you were to allow those icons on the world map. It would be cool if you spotted someone's diplomats on the map to try to tell who it was by their coloring and appearance.
