Er, I didn't have Negotiation and couldn't accept it, and I accidentally deleted it when deleting everything. But I have Negotiation now. Could you send it again?

Akura, can we have a sub-forum for Battle Reports or Attack/Defense Coordination?

Awesome. Alex should have his soon, too.

Anyway, I place my second settlement NEXT to my capital. I will make a HUGE city consisting of smaller districts made of individual settlements. They are easy to defend and support with caravans, so you may want to do the same.  :)

But on the other hand, if you have many spread-out settlements, you can take advantage of more natural resources (instead of an entire country relying on one or two wheat resources).

To be honest, once you hit the point where you can build a new settlement, all you'll really need are those two wheat piles. You should be cranking out enough of everything else at your first town.

Do the natural resources actually do anything?

You collect them.

Also, BBZ, the only problem I see with clustering is that settlements are a great opportunity to bring neighbors to our far flung players without any friendlies nearby  - me and you already have each other for support (and now you've got your secondary settlement), so we should start thinking about the others (like Zangi, for example).

We CAN do the crosses with each others cities, remember!

Speaking of which, you want some Orcish slums in Stonegirdle West?  (West side REPRESENT!)

I will make a HUGE city consisting of smaller districts made of individual settlements.

We might consider having all of us build one, huge megacity somewhere together. It takes 8 cities to make one inaccessible on the map. One player will have difficulty doing that.

30 of us will have it easy.

Though we might want to confirm that armies cannot move over cities en route to other targets. But I've read that that's the case.

I'm not sure about that. I am pretty sure that you can't siege a city if it's surrounded by other cities, since the siege camp needs to go on one of the surrounding tiles. Not sure about regular attacks though, I could have sworn I've seen an army pass through my city once(very tense moment, that was).

If that type of protection is possible, we could make a vast 10-by-10 megacity. Assuming about 30 players, each player can have 3 cities, but only needs to provide defence for one.

So, we can all build around this center, and create a metropolis of death?

To be honest, it feels too gamey to me and does not look good on the World Map. I was thinking of four linked settlements when I talked about mega settlement. The purpose is not to fully enclose the center settlement, but to specialise each settlement for a different function and make it easy to organise defense. For instance, my capital, Stonegirdle is located on a hill and produces more stone so it will focus on building siege equipments. Stonegirdle East is located on the top of a mountain and produces more iron so it will focus on military equipments. Both compliment each others and are easy to defend.

I proposed something in between in our Alliance Forum. Feel free to discuss about it.

But, if we ever decide to have our Alliance Capital relocated to a mega mega settlement (like that 8x8 behemoth you talked about) consisting of settlements owned by multiple Slaves, I am all for it!

Having the majority of our cities immune to siege would be hugely useful, yes?

If we do this, we might consider placing it near the center of the world map, for nearest access to the average anywhere.
