Seems interesting, starting as a dwarf in SW. Hope to contribute to the dwarven war machine.

Welcome aboard Rakonas. :)

Anyway... was about to launch my first attack but then...

EDIT: W00t! Got a gold cache near my settlement, but I don't have enough research points to research Bartering yet. Let's hope it will stay there until tomorrow!

Good news! I have managed to raise half the gold needed to form the alliance!

Hurrah!

Say, what's a good defensive force size?

Hallelujah! By tomorrow I will have researched Bartering and be able to gather gold around my settlement.

Hurrah!

Not sure, but that depends on the size of attacking army and its composition. I personally plan to raise a division of 20 Yeomen, led by a Yeoman commander, for both defending and attacking.

Welcome to the party, Neyvn. You can create two accounts, but you can't use one to supply the other. So, give the Orc a shot if you like. :)

Sounds good. Halbardiers can form a shock troop role when we get them I guess.

IMO, no. They're slower and carry less capacity than Yeomen. Yeomen is your poor man's raiders at this point. Halbardiers are better for defending. Haven't gone through swordmen so I can't speak anything about them.

PS: This is in the context of raiding inactive settlements.

I will see if its worth soaking some of my time into it, I already play Evony. So I might be able to gather up some basic EXP when playing these kinds of games...

You mean, Evony, the game that used bikini-clad ladies for advertising?

Weren't we talking about a defensive army? I was thinking Halbardiers would be your more elite guards, and serve to actually pose a signifigant threat.

Dwarves excel at axmen. I have 17 yeomen now (spearmen) and I plan to upgrade military tree soon.

Ah sorry, got mixed up. I had early attacking/raiding in mind. [EDIT: The word 'shock' troops correlated to assault in my brain.] Halbardiers are indeed the elite guard against cavalry.

I'm not really concerned about defense at this stage. The settlements around me still have newbie protection. I plan to move on to infantry after Yeomen with my first settlement, skipping Halbadiers entirely. Hopefully this won't cost me a capital. :/

At the least, experience for your commanders I'm sure, so you don't have to attack a player to get any.
