It'd be probably cheaper to upgrade your Paddock and produce a few horses yourself. Probably faster, depending on distance to your trade partner. Only downside is the hit to your food production even when you're not breeding horses.

@Buri: Huh. I'd heard about NAPs and I had thought that Alliance-only trade offers were already implemented. Doesn't say anything about start-up costs, but I guess we'll find out in 1 hour, 53 min, 12 sec.

kilakan, just to add what Akura said, to trade horses, you need Market Place level 5 and then research Bartering (150 Reseach Points). Unless someone is really focused on developing his trade infrastructure and technology, I don't think anyone in this topic has reached that stage yet.

Ehh. My Market is at level 3. And I was planning on getting Barter earlier to harvest some gold(dammit, I think someone's been taking from that pile right next to my town!). In the meantime, kilakan, use that one caravan you've got to nab raw materials from the countryside. And just so you know, your Market's level determines how many caravans you can build.

Akura, don't bother with gold at this stage. With no troops, we don't consume gold yet. And it's a rather long way until you get your first spearman. Tanning itself costs 120 Research Points! It's more essential to use your caravans to gather raw materials needed to construct infrastructure.

Yep, my market is level 4 already. I get all materials from caravans. The only problem is wood. And it's a MAJOR problem.

Breed your own horses. They are really cheap in comparison to what they bring.

Halfman, you're probably right. After checking the upgrade requirements, only Library and Clay Pits require more wood. I'll remove that tip.

Well, you still need it. For example, when you want to build carpentry/storage/blacksmith/other stuff, these things require about 500 of each resource per LEVEL.

P.S. Change my name to "Deon Boatmurdered" please, that's how I am registered in the game.

I'm aware of that. The point I was trying to make was to prioritise on woods, because I had the impression that early buildings required them more than other resources. I actually have a shortage of iron now with only 3 mines and one iron resource cache on the World Map.

Boatmurdered at 183 | -253 (SE). May be a long distance if you started in SW.

Would 200 woods for 200 iron be fair?

All of my caravans are out ATM, though.
