New titles currently up for grabs:

<skill level> Magma Swimmer
<skill level> Brewer
<skill level> Drinker (though I expect each and every single one of you dwarves to be Legendary with that skill)
<skill level> Goblin Bone Maker

First to claim it gets it. Or are these not what we're going for?

Yay, a title. Thanks, Akura!

I think these folks had some titles in their minds they would want to be have, but the ones you listed sound good, too!

Probably it's better to let them post in the alliance forum so you don't get mixed up with their B12 username and Illyriad username.

Well, you know how if you take your thumb and forefinger and hold them up to your eye, you can make it look like you're squishing someone's head? It's like that, only for real.

Spartan 117 = Morul.

Okay, the rest of you should post in the alliance forum. Easier for Akura to keep track of the posts and identify the members.

Enjoy the new title, fellows!  :D

EDIT: Anyway, Aelfric just turned Competent.  :P

"Novice is a bad vice"?

That makes no sense. :-\

Vice

"The term vice is commonly used in law and law enforcement to refer to criminal offenses related to prostitution, gambling, and pornography. In the United States the term is also used to refer to crimes related to alcohol and narcotics."

"No vice is a bad vice" = drinking, gambling, prostitution, etc. is ok. Alternately it could be interpeted to mean that people who single mindedly insist that these things are evil are themselves engaging in a vice of self-righteousness. As in, "having no vices" is a bad vice.

Hmmm.. this looks interesting, but I only have 30 days of free time starting tommorrow. If this is anything like Tribal Wars, sounds like a high playtime game. It wouldn't be one of those games that run for only a few days, now would it?

Edit: ups, guess I need a consulate for that! I'll post again when its done.

From experience, I don't have to wake up at 3am in the morning to launch my attack like what I did in Tribal Wars. What mainly differentiates this from Tribal Wars is troops control. In Tribal Wars, you either attack/farm or station your troops at your settlement. In Illyriad, you can do the same, plus guard a tile on world map, blockade (all inbound caravans toward blockaded settlement are redirected to yours upon arrival), siege (slowly destroy enemy settlement to raze or capture it), etc.

There are commanders who can lead troops and specialise in certain areas. They could give bonus to the whole troop or have high personal attributes.

There are spells as well. Currently there are three schools of magic, but they're adding two more in the future.

Give it a try. If you don't like it, you can just quit.  :)

Eh, why not. Won't have too much time for this, but I'll give it a try.  Joined as Singularity, as Dwarf in the SE.  Town name is Planepacked ;) and coords are 341, -37. Probably far out of everyone's way, unfortunately... >.>

Is it better to have one really good resource harvester, or many mediocre ones?

If I do something before the tutorial tells me to, will it screw things up? Does changing the tax rate, etc. happen in the tutorial, or can I do that safely?

What technologies should I get?

Welcome, Single and Cheddar!

@Single
Some of the fresher meat in SE start around Central East too. There are around 4 of you in that area.

@Cheddar
What do you mean? Caravans are upgraded with research. Say, if you upgrade capacity to 300, ALL caravans you have and build will have 300 capacity.

Anyway, better to have multiple caravans because you have more flexibility. You may need iron and wood, so you need to send them to two different resource caches on World Map. If you only had one, you wouldn't be able to do so.

EDIT: Nevermind, I was thinking of caravans when I read 'harvesters', but I suppose you were asking about resource production buildings.

Just follow the tutorial because it gives you a good overview of the game. Library and marketplace are must have. Lower tax rate to 1-5% because we don't need gold in the first week of the game. Not following tutorial isn't critical, but may slow down your initial progress.
