Team Fortress Tower!
« on: June 03, 2010, 01:58:56 pm »

Well, Here is the beginning of our entry. It's all hush-hush, so no pictures or details yet. But we can have a permanent discussion here soon. I'll ask competitors not to look. I haven't looked at their threads, so I'd like the same courtesy. I know they didn't ask for secrecy. I am; I want our towers to be mutually uninfluenced.

Update #1:

Work is proceeding apace!

At the end of year one, we had only 16 workers. Even with large numbers of miners and nearly everyone else assigned to masonry, the going was terribly slow. Now a wave of 24 migrants has come, and it's off to the races in year 2! When Phase One is complete, the turn passes to our next in line, tbino.

Phase One continues to be troublesome.

Seeds nearly starved our dwarves to death by filling the stockpiles. Bags of passable quality were woven to alleviate the problem.

40 dwarves are not getting this done quickly enough. However, in spite of the best possible designation system, I've discovered that a larger number of dwarves probably won't speed up the process much. The best they could do is bring stone to convenient stockpiles.

Is this culminating in a TF2 map?

If not, then I'd like to call the "assault up an implausibly tall tower" idea and start working on it.

This seems like part of the tower competition from the posts.

Well, Here is the beginning of our entry.

To the Dwarf Fortress Team Tower competition. Or whatever the proper name is. It's linked from there.

24 more dwarves join our glorious cause! Haulers and builders aplenty!
