The B12 World Cup thread
« on: June 03, 2010, 09:41:08 am »

So, anyone else following up on the world cup as much as I am? I'm planning on skipping some study time to get to watch some of the early group matches, especially before Australia gets knocked out of the cup :D

I'll watch the final game. Or I'll watch any games the US is in if they actually do well (LOLOLOL, for all I know they're already eliminated...I know dick about soccer)

Everyone around here (Nazareth) supports Brazil, judging by the number of Brazilian flags on all the houses

Looking at England's team sheet, I thought this was just a repeat of the last world cup :/.

Eh, USA's actually a stronger contender this time. I think the Beckham thing really brought up American interest in it. There's actually supporters this time, lol.

Heh, anyway, I'm supporting Australia all the way this year, and Germany the rest of the way. My bet's on Brazil vs Germany for the finals, with Italy and France/Argentina fighting for third place.

I'm placing Portugal and New Zealand as underdogs. Spain too, but they already won a cup recently so they're not really underdogs. I bet the Dutch will be playing below their level of skill again. Dirk Kuyt doesn't seem on form this year. But I'm not sure if he's in the starting line-up. The Dutch have brilliant players, they just don't do so well in the big international games.

No interest whatsoever. I don't do soccer, if I want to watch acting, I'll watch acting, no?

There are apparently worries that there will be an HIV outbreak caused by the combination of drunk forigners and local prostitution.

So are we 'Mericans doing well? I don't care enough to actually watch the games, but I care enough to not want to lose.

They won't beat Argentina because Argentina has Lionel Messi and that means Argentina wins.

EDIT:

NEW ZEALAND GOT ROBBED.

That game with Australia was bullsheep. Bullsheep.

But I thought New Zealanders liked Sheep? ;)

I love all the Americans in the thread talking about how much they don't care about soccer, by the way. It's pretty lollerous. This actually reminds me of this one time when I was eating in a university cafeteria, talking to some people about how great Barcelona was doing. They got all huffy because I called it 'soccer' instead of 'football'. But they though Real Madrid was a tour company. olololol
