Just starting to play version 3.21. Can I just say, were are all the items? 3.1 was full of them. Game is definitely more FUN. (Need to use run key more.)

No idea, but here is this super secret image ( :-X) that accompanies a neat essay on AI.


I am also keen on the idea of adding a normal zombie free day too. At first it should happen regularly, but as time progresses it should happen sparingly of course.

Just starting to play version 3.21. Can I just say, were are all the items? 3.1 was full of them. Game is definitely more FUN. (Need to use run key more.)

If you aren't running you're already dead.

In other survivors' pockets.

When you first start your game, if you play the game with the initial district revealed, take a moment to look at where you're spawning.
If you see a fridge or a table, that room will probably have groceries in it. If you see cabinets, there might be items on them. Of course, survivor ai's seem to spawn anywhere in a building, so by the time you get there the item (and survivor) may all ready be gone.

Once you get to day three or so, or at least in my case, seem to get pretty heavily spammed with army ration drops.  So just get through those first few days and you'll be good.

No no no, you guys got it all wrong. CHAR is FOR reanimation, they started this mess after all.  :-\

Atleast, I think, its a good backstory anyway. :P

CHAR is both an acronym (the letters mean something and are plot-related) and a pun on roguelikes usually using ascii CHARacters to display the game (and the "char" type associated in most languages).

I'll try to optimize the loading/saving time, but I'm afraid there's not much I can do.
.NET serialization seems to eat an insane amount of memory when deserializing (loading) compared to the actual data size (look at your saved game files they shouldn't be that big especially at default settings).

In my starting district, the only things I found were 6 groceries and a cell phone. Any survivors I found barely had anything. There were chairs, cabinets and tables. However I am now past seven days. The army is dropping supplies like there's no tomorrow. (Mind you, their could be, so...) Thank god for the shotgun, would have died if it wasn't for it. (Surrounded by two zombies and a zombie master. Had to blast my way out.)

(look at your saved game files they shouldn't be that big especially at default settings).

i also recall that when a running game eats like 800 megs, you just minimize it, get it back up. then it eats like only 40 for a little bit )
