Probably the same thing was said about the latest James Bond movies.. I for one am quite disapointed at the movie industries.

This came about because the white guys they were looking into for the role weren't well known. That's why race is an issue; these white guys have no star power.

I'm sure this isn't ironic to everyone, but the notion that we need a black Spiderman because there isn't a white man famous enough is staggering to me.

First they bastardize Karate Kid, now people want Peter Parker to be black. For no reason. When literaly all other incarnations of the character are white. And the guy in question looks like he'd make an an awful Spider-Man, even if he'd be behind a mask most of the time.

I'd much rather have Chiwetel than Donald. Chiwetel is awesome. Not that he fits the 'American student' profile, regardless of race, but a guy can dream.

Very well. Then I say the next Iron Man Film Reboot should have Tony Stark be a Korean woman who does selfless charity work. See how that sounds stupid? Once a character has been defined, you cannot just go changing the core apperance and traits of said character.

Woahwoahwoah. The new Karate Kid movie won't suck because the kid is back. Seeing the social standing of the original kid, it could be pulled off very well. The problem is that they got a really YOUNG kid to play the Karate Kid. And that they didn't get a better writer for Jackie. And that they ruined the chopstick scene.

 And yeah, Peter Parker needs to be a slightly white nerd stereotype. Not necessarily white, but the white nerd stereotype before be becomes kickass.
