Oct 18 2010 Need new players to keep the game going. Its easy message me and i can help you join or just take controll of one of the unclaimed characters. I'd like to keep the game going to some kind of resolution.

Hi guys I'd like to start a game does anyone want to play? It will be location based and I am pretty exited to give it a shot. The players will be one of the 7 dwarves starting a fort and all I need from you guys is the stats and inventory that your dwarf brings. you get 800 bucks and here is the shopping list

THINGS YOU CAN BUY (please ask if you want something else)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I plan to have the game be slightly more realistic than usual, so you need to sleep every day and eat often and have lighting. Funny is ok but i dont want it to be goofy. any takers?

EDIT: UPDATE as of the end of day 21 stocks.

Name: Nirur Torir
Profession: Mason/stonecrafter.
Personality: He is hard-working and complains very little. He is serious, and has no sense of humor. He is straightforward and honest, refusing to tell white lies to spare somebody's feelings. He values long-lasting creative tasks, like statues, but considers temporary art, such as music and dance, to be worthless. He dislikes when people spend significant amounts of time goofing off while there is important work to be done.

Willpower (3)
Strength (3)

Oh, sorry, didn't see. I'll take fisherdwarf with some trapping skills.

Name: Cog Goldhook
Personality: He is a bit selfish. He likes it when things go his way and gets frustrated when they don't. He has a love for animals, particularly birds, which is strange for a dwarf. He is an excellent fisherdwarf and knows all the secrets of the trade. He loves a good joke and drink. He likes to listen to others and often gives them more chances than they deserve. His hobbies include; making his own fishing lures, whittling with wood, dabbling with instuments, and catching small animals to tame and train.

I'll take:
puppy-100
10 candles-5=50
Fishing pole-55

Skills I will do like this: You get 10 points you can spend on the following skills http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Skills. One point buys one rank up, but if you take at least 5 skills you get +5 more points for being versatile. **EDIT: but they must all be rank 2 or 3 to qualify**

Attributes will be based of of this http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Attributes but I have reduced the number of attributes to 10 because many are bast represented in game by the player, like creativity. As you can see the attributes go from a neutral level to +4 ranks if you are unbelievably strong to -4 ranks if you are unfathomably weak.           You get 10 rankups for your attributes.  Also the stats are reduced to

Strength
fine coordination
gross agility
toughness
endurance
health
Intellect
willpower
perception
charisma

Lastly you can trade 1 attribute rankup for 3 skillpoints or 3 skillpoints for 1 attribute rankup. and noone can start with a skill better than talanted.

Shouldn't that be at least 5 skills, all at rank 2 or more? Otherwise we'd all buy a few throwaway skills for the free points.
Instead of
5x skill A
5x skill B

I could take
6x skill A
6x skill B
1x skill C
1x skill D
1x skill E

Another question: is dabbling skill skipped while buying skills?

INITIALIZING...
PREPARING ELEVATION...
SETTING TEMPERATURE...
RUNNING RIVERS...
FORMING LAKES...
GROWING VEGETATION...
VERIFYING TERRAIN...
IMPORTING WILDLIFE...
RECOUNTING LEGENDS...

PRELUDE:

The expedition sits, waiting in a room back in the underground halls of their home city. In enters a Nobledwarf from the double doors carrying a small stack of papers clutched in his hand.

Noble says: Good you're all here, You're paperworks through and your taxes are in order, but theres still the matter of where exactly you plan to settle. You must have greased the right palms, I have not seen this kind of variety in decades, So just hurry up and pick, im waiting and am not about to miss the lunchparty for you folk.

He spins a pair of dusty tablets out onto the table in front of you all, listing 5 embark locations to chose from.

The Peak: Nisgakustuth the Raduknum of Imket
Prospectors have reported exposed veins of ore here, and noted a scarce amount of withered trees, a complete lack of vegetation and freezing cold winds. the expedition was chased away by packs of primitive subraces before a more thorough list of features could be noted.

The Volcano: Imbukog the Woe of Creation
This volcano was discovered in previously unexplored lands, but the prospectorrs turned back after the terryfying inhabitants of the surrounding woody swamps stalked them in great numbers. Helpful snailmen are thanked with saving the expedition after the agressive water creatures of the swamp ruined their transports

The Lake: Nilsarek
This mirthfull forest lacks signs of nearby ore, but shows a rich abundance of wood and flocks of animals. The scouts fled after growing fearfull of the bizzare creatures that live here. Some say they saw ghosts.

The Mighty River: Sisalnakuth
This tropical area has trees covering the mountanous and hilly terrain. Rains are torrential but hot, and savage animals lurk in the trees. Signs left by seemingly hostile inhabitants put an end to further exploration.

The Haunted Woods: Imbruk-urrith the Vim of Nazush
Mighty trees make this temperate location hard to navigate but signs of ores and steep cliffs should make mining convenient, but after inderect contact with active goblins in the area the whole place was abandoned
