What are the dwarves' inventories? Is everyone armed?

Nobody is well armoured, and weapons are meagre. Your migrant companion has one crossbow, another exists in the fort. There is a bow also, and just enough arrows to go around. But other weapons are like one axe and a few picks and shovels.

(Im still working on reconsoladating stocks here and ill put an up to date and easier to read stockpile within a few days. after that the room list.)

Scream and run! I'm a cowardly dwarf!

Cog valiantly runs screaming! but the mud and muck bogs him down. luckily his heavy winter clothing keeps him protected from more than just the bitter winter cold and he seems hardly the worse after his quick escape sends most of the crabs flying off with bits leather and fur instead of bits of Cog. He stops tired, when it seems a bit safer and tears the remainder of the swamp vermin and hurls them away. looking behind him though he sees a skeletal snake pursing him at a quick speed, with a zombie turtle following far behind too! Cog runs all the way back home and manages to escape with his life thanks to his quick actions.

Cog now has an unspent skillpoint, feel free to choose one skill to upgrade.

If nobody else wants it, I'd like to take the unclaimed bedroom.
I recommend that we move the four beds in the entrance hallway (what are they doing there?!) to the hospital.
If anyone wants anything (statues for the bedrooms, specific armor/weaponry, bolts, stone crafts, etc.), please feel free to ask.

Chedarrius (played by cheddarius) starts working right away. he takes 16 stone from the stockpile and puts up a hasty rock wall around half of the outer perimiter. it wont stand up to much, and it would take another level's worth to make it tall enough not not be jumped over. But it is a a start, and a good one too. Not stopping to rest, he builds a place to burn some good charcoal and a smithing workshop around the anvil. Both are constructed outdoors (-2 stone). During the night he constructs 30 bone arrows, their tips blackened in fire.

Adwarf wanders around the fortress and familiarises himself with the layout. He is about to set up his tent outside , but seeing the 4 unused beds in the hallway, he takes one as his and patrols about with his crossbow for the rest of the day.

With his shift finished, Nirur hands off guard duty, and the copper crossbow to Revist, who stands atop the tower until night. With his remaining daytime, Nirur Constructs a lathe/grindstone. and adds it to the masons workshop.

Hrodegr decides to get to work finally, and takes the alligator skin, tannes it, and casually makes an masterpeice set of alligator skin boots. The end results surprise even himself, and he barges outside and holds the pair of boots up high! (Alligator boots 1600$!) Hrodegr has created a masterpiece! (wear these boots to reveal their secret special effect!) But Hrodegr lets no one touch them, claiming they are too nice to actually wear.

Garul will do as following, armed at all times, with spear slung on his back:

8 hours patrolling & guarding (timed to cover for others when no one else guards)
8 hours Personal needs; sleeping and eating
8 hours using stone for mechanism making.

Also requests a wooden or preferably, metal shield, also offering weapon smithing, with his metal, or other metal available.

This is Dwarf Fortress! If we can chuck magma at innocent wildlife, we can do ANYTHING!

It was at this point that I realised that dwarves are actually the essence of chaos. What else can make perpetual motion machines, recursive statues with more building materials than the average tower and has such a short attention span that a damn fine chair can off-set the death of their entire family.

Skill meaning strength and intelligence or fishing and carpentry?

I think fishing and carpentry. If I remember correctly, strength and intelligence are called "attributes."
