I think everyone who wanted internet already has it, or is this middleclass white boy talking?
Because if you aren't exposed to something then how would you know about it?
Through internet? If you're saying it's because people in Africa don't know about the internet, that's a pretty shameless generalization. Even if they might not know about the internet, they, a neighbor, or relative have probably have seen telephones or computers by now and realized by now. Besides, you're forgetting again that it would be optional. You wouldn't have to hook up if you want to live a certain type of lifestyle. Also, there would still be libraries for when they do want to connect and still be a nomad or whatever.
Also, how did you guess I was middle class and white? Also, what is it with the crude generalizations? My family raises a lot of our own food by farming but we have a modest home, a TV, and computers for all. My dad works 5 days a week as a State employee at a Historical area in the Summer only. During the Winter he works through an employment agency running machinery despite having a Bachelors in Chemistry and a career spent as an engineer designing various products (mostly various industrial filters and the machines that built them). That doesn't mean I, who may exercise my own free will, can't go to the local city, use my computer skills and my laptop to produce music with people there (for free I might add), and learn at least a little about how they live. This is another argument I'm not going to get into other than these few sentences.
Duuvian, what I'm saying is that he isn't a propagandist. Your first post on the subject of the video betrays your knee-jerk reaction to an ideology you don't like. You are also demonstrating why internet access isn't making you smarter, its just making you defensive.
Not even going to bother. You know I could argue this silly argument over how you're taking what I write out of context on purpose because you can't be bothered to provide documentation that I can't pick to pieces, but I'm not going to. I guess I just don't agree with you that disagreeing with things that I think are wrong is somehow inappropriate. I should just believe you because he and you say so; despite being able to find things on the internet and books to the contrary? That's what this thread was started for and I smugly congratulate you on helping to prove my point. We are both enlightened as to each others beliefs, and the people who read this thread will possibly allow themselves to be influenced by our thoughts here. That certainly constitutes being less ignorant. I suppose it's up to you to decide whether the lack of ignorance is a part of being smart or intelligent and how much of a component it is.
