The Internet is an amazing thing. Never before in the history of the world has there been a more simple way to broadcast information and ideas.

Sadly however, the fact that it is easy to broadcast ideas and informations makes the likelihood of misinformation and bad ideas being broadcasted skyrocket.

That being said, I don't think the Internet is making people stupider.

The Internet will not make people smarter. What it will do is give the appearance of people becoming stupider. In reality, the people are already retarded, you are just giving them a platform and anonymity with which to proclaim their idiotic ideas.

What are you talking about. Your comment doesn't have anything to do with anything and doesn't even make sense.

The graph says the yellow areas don't have internet. Thus, the white areas do. The entire Atlantic is in white.

You either grossly misinterpreted my post or you're not funny in any way shape or form.

Try reading the comments on CNN or Fox.  It doesn't matter what your political leanings are, there are totally stupid people on either side.  Then if someone makes a comment about religion at one of those places!  Oh the comments that follow...

Remember kids, comment boxes are for arguing about the President. Dosen't matter who is President at the time, what the actual article was about, or if the President has any relation to the subject at hand; comment boxes are for arguing about the President.

I once saw the comments for my local movie review in a heated debate between Neo-Natzi White Nationalist KKK Idiots and New Black Panther Party Supremacy Idiots on the subject of the Obama Administration. The movie in question? 9.

Which 9 was it? There have been several movies with that name since September.

The one derived off of the short film of the same name, about a post-robot uprising future with sentient ragdolls.

Fuck, that movie was badass as all hell.

There were English Nazis in the movie, though, so I can see where the Neo Nazi's might have jumped in, but... the Black Panthers? Just... What?

I'd guess that the local New Black Panthers found out about the Neo-Nazis comments, and showed up to refute them. Then more Neo-Nazis show up to counter the Black Panthers, on and on ad infinium.

I think all you need to do is take a quick look at the internet to know that letting everyone have access to it would not automatically make everyone smarter

As for what I think we should do now since everyone is saying it (as if I'm an expert...) we should make large social security and medicare cuts and use that to focus on the economy, reduce our debt and generally get our shit together (lowering taxes is nice...).
What a monumentally bad idea. Or do you think that 300% rise in crime rates is somehow a good thing for the economy? If you want to slash something, slash the military budget, god knows it's overbloated.

Military budget is about as much as medicare. Also slightly higher than giving money to the poor. I'm not American, I just learned that from the internet!
