The only reason I survived Balddread is due to the fact that, a) it's not the home of their Demon leader, b) there were only 45-50 goblins, with only half of those armed, and c) I ran the hell out as soon as I got announcements about arrows and bolts.

Although, technically we can blame the lizard for this one.

Fuckin' lizard.

The thing is, the demon leader has been dead for over one hundred years. They just keep worshiping it because that's how all the temples have been made. All the related entries of it list it as having been slain in 78.

Oops. Yeah, it turns out all the Demons are dead.

The goblin Civ leaders are fair game, though.

Roll back time. It's the only way to save the future!
Damn lizard.
Goblin fortresses are hard to crack. I tried to take Balddread about five times and everyone died because I'm stupid.
Oh, and back with Quihu, I died when fighting animal-men in a goblin temple.

Alright, neighbors. It's time to pull a cosmic retcon.

I'll grab NewsMuffin's save, and let's get this thing rolling again.

All was black, as his mind spun round like a pinwheel and his limbs grew cold Xugot heard the voices of the cosmos whispering.
"It is not your time Xugot Creamsoothe the wooden zealot of sundering"
"We really fucked up this time"
"All shall be returned to normal"
"try to write less during combat"
As the voices faded and the darkness grew absolute, Xugot felt his consciousness receding and his memories becoming clearer. His mind fading through the abyss like a dank fog.

EDIT:I smudged the crap out of my old Xugot sketch with GIMP and it looks a bit more impressive, at least in the armor department.

Sorry for the delay, people! I've been busy.

Posting the update shortly.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

--------

Done. I didn't get to play for long, because, well, crap job.

Downsides of my run:

Got everyone killed
Lost Xugot's flail.

Upsides:

Generated more quests (Casot now wants you to take out the goblins who killed Thad and the others)
Xugot's now tough enough to not pass out every few minutes.

Okay, I have the save! I'll start tomorrow, though. It's well into the night where I live.

Great update, I've been waiting for a while.

If nobody else is lined up I'll take another turn and try not to introduce the lizard as a character again.

Anyway, how is Ngerxung pronounced? I've been saying it Worksung but the pronounciation of the first part and the way the syllables work make me wonder. At least we haven't run into too many characters with alt character names. There was Moņol, but she was hardly around for very long at all.

Update's taking a while, hang on.  :(

It seems a pretty nasal word, but I kinda pronounce it that way too, with the X replaced by a K.

(Also, has anyone noticed that Snodub, Song, Snang, and Stozu are the most common goblin names, or something?)

I've always considered Snodub (plague) to be the goblin equivalent of Urist. Mostly becauseof its frequency and because I can pronounce it without looking up diacritics.

"Snodub Babysnatch escaped with a useless annoying child"
sounds about right.

It's funny that the words seem to have internal consistencies of sound. Goblin tends to use the x and ng sounds a lot in their language file while supporting some kind of weird unpronouncable "mx" combination in some words like dung (emxa) and seduce (amxu) they seem to be the only race that uses the ring diacritic. Elves love umlauts everywhere and tend to use softer consonant sounds with more altered vowels, often with umlauts. Dwarves on the other hand tend to just use harder consonant sounds with the repetitions of hard G, T and R. Humans are just random, I've used their language as a modding template and they use all the sounds randomly. Kobolds fourtunately have those fun utterance names that sound like random dog-latin like Shreegus and Leemunkthin.

in short, either toady has a program to generate these things syllable bu syllable, or he's probably spent nearly twenty hours on all these random words that many are never spoken by the race themselves.

Sorry guys, I got Xugot killed trying to ninjafy an elf retreat.

Can you take Josephus' save, Robocorn? I was unworthy, apparently.
