It was a cold day in October. Snow fell fast outside the window, seeing it only briefly as it passed by the unlit classroom windows. The power had gone out long ago, and the cold had settled in and around the unlucky 13. They shivered in their blankets they had luckily procurred.
They had been trapped in the school for only a few hours now, killing whatever conversations they had had before then and leaving a dead silence in its wake.
It was even hard to remember the student council meeting they had just had. One of the 10th grade representatives had suggested an after-school snack bar for activities. With their growing hunger, it was likely to be unanimous should they ever bring it to a vote.
The silence continued for some more with the winds roaring outside. Out in the hallway, a few flakes of snow blew past the doorway. Some brilliant prankster had managed to wedge the main door open before he left.
It was at this point that the President had a great and terrible game to play. A charismatic figure, he said they should play the game Mafia. Perhaps none of them truly understood what he was suggesting... But he let it sink slowly in. A few of them were here, always here, to sabotage the school, to steal their blankets, to keep the storm going. They were hiding within this group. They were going to get them while they slept.
"It's the ninth graders! They're the newest to the school," one of the junior reps cried out.
"Sounds awfully defensive there," the secretary pointed out.
And it was this that degenerated the kids into a horrible and violent game.
This was Mafia.
It is now Day.
