I bought blood pack and I have to say Im enjoying it more than I should. Watching 10 archer units firing at a single unit at the same time, its glorious Im telling you. 0.5€ isn't bad for this.

pic please, for fun (I'm not giving sega any money anytime soon)

Okay, so I just found out that I can run this game on Ultra provided the shaders are set to the lowest setting. Any idea what that means for my video card?

high geometry rendering power but no support for advanced shading in hardware?

like a dx9 gen card? new generations aren't that much faster, but do have an architecture that favor a new set of operations to be done in hardware (like ambient occlusion)

... oh god. I caved and brought all the DLC for shogun while it was cheap. Shimazu heavy gunners are NASTY. They take out entire horse units in one volley. I play on huge unit sizes, a group of 80 men got 718 kills. Dear lord.

Jesus Christ you're right, I had no idea. I got four lined up and they totally wiped out a fully veteran Great Guard with one volley. These things are insane.

I was wondering why, despite having the requirements, I couldn't build them, since I only had the ability to in about five frontline provinces. And I recently bought the dirt cheap DLC...

Heh. Heh. Heh.

Every shot they fire goes through about 2-3 units. So if you line up a single unit and rank their fire they will eliminate an entire unit if they're on flat ground.

Its just... Its beautiful man. It really is.

That seems a tad unbalanced. On the other hand, matchlock ashigaru are downright terrible, save for when they're stationed atop walls. Are they powerful enough to take on, say, katana heroes?

1-1, yes, they could. I don't think they're unbalanced unless it's 1-1 because they will annihilate anything coming at them when they're prepared. I haven't seen them outside of that context, but I'd assume that if they're not used carefully they're near useless because they die like flies and archers would massacre them.

The match where they got 718 kills they actually got engaged by cav a few times. They can certainly defend themselves considering its samurai who are holding the guns. I had a spear wall behind them, admittedly, but the point still stands, you need to rush them with a damn strong unit and hope that unit doesn't get shot first. 1 v 1 they will beat anything.

I've joined the bay12 clan. But it seems it's not really active.

Got bored after some Mount and Blade: Warband (Floris Mod, of course) and wanted a little more strategy in my, erm, strategy games.

This is what I meant when I say "morale is a powerful force." But that general is practically a demigod by now.

Also, eagerly awaiting Fall of the Samurai. After getting the dirt cheap DLC during the holidays, I ended up decimating the rest of this game with Shimazu Heavy Gunners... which are freaking ridiculous, by the way.

Ooo so there are some other B12'ers still playing after all. Steam name is same as here if anyone wants to hook up and either play a co-op campaign or team up in avatar play. Availible for the rest of today though I'll be building some gundam models so it might take me a bit to notice.
