I'm up for some battling. Haven't done any TW multiplayer before though, but I guess there's a first for everything?

Anyone else messed with vassels yet? They're actually pretty decent in this one. I put a general on the other side of the island with an army, walked him through japan making everything I could a vassel and looting everything else.

Realm divide? Fuck you Shogan, the realm likes me better.

I usually turn a province I have no use for into a vassal. Basically most of the provinces with no strategic benefit.

Turning the Shogun side into a Vassel would be incredibly awesome.

I've done it. Doesn't stop the realm divide though and he'll still declare war on you. The only benefit is that he gives you a tiny amount of money per turn.

Got him as a vassal when he joined the Hattori in declaring war on me. When I defeated the Hattori, I offered the shogun vassalage and he accepted o.O

but why not own them for the income at the very least?

Several reasons:
1. Iron curtain strategy. The AI has to declare war on and go through all the vassal states to get to me. But all the vassal states I own count towards my provinces held. AI doesn't like to be at war with too many factions at once.
2. The vassals get to cheat like all the other AI and spawn ludicriously huge armies which can go forth and conquer on your behalf. More useful than my 2 ashigaru who defend each province.
3. After 50 turns or so, you basically have unlimited money from your existing provinces and trade anyway.

I made a dumb mistake about No-Dachi! Their low armor does indeed mean they can't stand up to extended combat. This seems obvious. Clearly, not to me.

Oda Ashigaru units spawned from a province with a blacksmith and an encampment seems very much like overkill.

Just to note that the AI doesn't spawn armies (with the exception of rebellions and pirates). It does appear to have more unit build slots at higher levels mind you, but even then it pays for the units (which you can see happen if your cheating).

Even if it does, the AI sides never go bankrupt so they still do infact cheat.

They can also stay indefinitely at negative food.

Shogunate, here I come. They have a reinforcing army of 1200, which on arrival will double their strength, but as for right now, I'm outnumbering them. FUCK YOU HERE I COME.

e: Oh holy shit. I mean seriously, holy shit. I'm one turn away from winning, but the thing is, when I click the end turn button the game crashes just as my turn is about to start and I'm about to win. That is the worst. Bug. Ever.

Whatever, I'm Shogun in my mind.

It gets % bonus income increases on higher levels but they can and do go bankrupt. I'm not sure about food never checked to see if they count there limit there.

Well, at least taking over AI provinces is making me go constantly negative on food production. They've upgraded their castles far beyond their food production... At least I can demolish markets but damn, the game really needs an option to downgrade castles.
