Well, we can always wait for the equivalent of this to come out. That's probably what I'll be doing. Unless I just buy the base game when the price goes down.

Apparently, the faction that will be permanently unavailable to anybody not buying on time has the only worthwhile gimmick(instead of "we are good at farming and bow shooting" or "we have cheaper muskets but use cardboard horses" : They have no deployment zones and can start anywhere and their troops stay hidden until they shoot/charge. And come equipped standard with stun grenades and a stealth disengagement move.

Have fun facing that in multiplayer with no chance ever of getting to play them yourself.

Considering that I'm only going to ever play this single player, I don't think I'm going to care too much if I miss out on the one super-unbalanced faction.

Uhhuh... Is that the "carrot" in the strategy games these days? Pretty much the same as giving all the possible cheat codes to the pre-orderers and make them only work in their game.

It's a single player faction not a multiplayer one.

Just played through the tutorial campaign, and I'm impressed.

Pros: Ninjas.  The AI (while not perfect) is vastly improved and seems to make a lot less n00b mistakes.  Cavalry can dismount.  Ninjas.  Units are a lot more cohesive.  The siege pathfinding actually WORKS this time round.  Special units are in abundance.  Ninjas.  Runs a lot smoother than even M2TW on my PC.

Cons: Cavalry seem OP.  I actually dislike the stylized unit tabs.

I wanna try naval combat...

I really rather like the stylized unit tabs, although I do have some problems determining what I'm actually selecting sometimes.

Yes, I forgot to mention the dismounting Calvary thing. Any mounted unit can dismount/remount if you need them to. This means you can have large, expensive, Calvary based armies, and still siege with them, or even just use them as high mobility infantry to swiftly surround your enemy.

Cavalry can dismount.
My prayers are answered, thank god.

The game hasn't wowed me too much (previous AI problem, not THAT much separating it from the previous games) but the biggest thing it's lacking is my favorite Shogun of all:

I just imagine them as the cavalry putting their wives into sacks and carrying them into battle. It makes it much more entertaining. But my guess would be some sort of supplies or something; maybe rations for the army or some such. Or even something as arbitrary as a game design decision to make certain types of units unique looking to avoid confusion.
