Here's the thing, this period only really lasts 2 years... err... that's kinda bad.

They'll just do the Napoleon thing again and have every turn last 2 weeks. That was a 2 year time period, right?

I wonder what kind of realm divide system we will see this time.

It rather looks like it'll be two factions beating each other up, Shogunate vs. Imperial. Or something along those lines.

I just hope they fix the co-op compaign... It's unplayable now.

In what way? I'm currently in a really fun co-op game with a friend, though we haven't played for a month so I don't know if something changed.

De-synching problem. I've played quite a few games with my friends, so far ALL of them de-synched and went super nova at 30ish turn.

Dear lord, I finally crushed the Ikko Ikki who rose up in the west, the Shimazu who pushed through on the east, even the water and crushed the Chosokabe...and somehow the Date managed to come back to life (The ikko ikki must have resurrected them) and have took everywhere right of Kyoto from my Vassals...Fortunately they're against me and the army of my Vassals that compose the rest of Japan.

One of my campaign mods must make Vassals more useful. That or the way I took Kyoto and became Shogun in the first 10 turns of the game meant Realm Divide didn't demolish the love for me...either way, all my Vassals are Friendly or Very Friendly and Date are going to become my bitches. Then I own all of Japan ^.^

Seriously, it must be mods because Vassals...are actually being useful 0_o

They usually are useful after realm divide. I usually keep one in an area where they have a port and only one, maybe two ways to advance. They keep my trade routes pirate free for me.

Vassals are good. They get all the cheats the AI get, except will almost always be on your side.

Heh, I haven't played this game since shortly after it came out... did one of the later patches fix Vassals during Realm Divided? Because mostly I remember my Vassals all going hostile and backstabbing me along with everyone else, and the solution at the time was to use mods.

I didn't mind vassals as Shimazu. (Darth Mod Shogun version, which takes away some of the cheats AI get and puts some actual intelligence in there,but still)

Since I tend to focus on gaining land battles, aside from capturing 4 or 5 trade positions slowly, over the course of a couple years, and jumping on locations that other provinces lost, I had very little navy. Grabbed Shikoku, and ended up making vassals of two separate clans there. They, both being locked to their own little mini island, end up making a rather large navy and patrolling my waterways quite nicely, while being more or less prevented from spreading to areas that might make them a threat (since they seem to not have been able to figure out how to transport like my enemies have).

Does the S2 Darth Mod make binary changes to the game? because if not there is no way it's changed the AI, at most he has tweaked some of the default values in the databases. (much like he did with empire to 'improve ai')

That's what he did, tweak default values that is.

There are settings to determine aggression and tech focus etc. He just adjusts them.

New info on Fall of the Samurai:

Also, unit limits have been doubled. And those worrying about naval bombardment don't have to worry as the accuracy is terribad (kinda like the artillery in Shogun 2 in the first place).

My main concern about my ability to enjoy Fall of the Samurai is I *suck* at using and fighting guns. My basic military strategy is:
Yari Ashigaru and Naginata Samurai at the front.
Archers behind.
Yari Samurai and Katana Cavalry on the flanks.
Yari and/or Katana Cavalry just hanging around.

And to basically march through the enemy. The Ashigaru and Naginata lock them in place and grind through them (The Naginata are also a moral block, they help stop chain routs), whilst the Yari Samurai and Cavalry keep the flanks clear and flank the enemy to hammer and anvil them. The Yari/Katana cavalry meanwhile slam into enemy archers/gunners to keep them distracted and drive them off, hunt down broken units so they don't regroup, and generally cause havoc.

It works fine fighting early armies, but when they get guns I usually suffer huge losses to walls of the things because I just can't have my cavalry take them out fast enough...though this is the basic strategy (Spears, Archers, Flank Guard, Chaos Causers) I've been using since the original Medieval: Total War so I probably need to start experimenting xD
