They did have singular units in the original Shogun but one bloke holding a bridge was kinda silly.
Apparently not.

At the battle of Stamford Bridge (1066) a giant Norse axeman (possibly armed with a Dane Axe) blocked the narrow crossing, and single-handedly held up the entire Saxon army. The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle states that this axeman cut down up to 40 Englishmen. He was only defeated when an English soldier floated under the bridge in a half-barrel and thrust his spear through the laths in the bridge.
40 kills is astonishing but not impossible. 200 hundred and routing the whole army is.

That's rather to be expected from a giant viking, though.

Just another day in Asgard and all that.

Maybe.  Unless you somehow find a way to make an even bigger Viking.  You know, for SCIENCE.

Well, there is a company doing genetic research here up north. I always did wonder why they set up shop in the first place, but no longer.

It'd still be cool if they went into a more 'myth and legend' type thing and you could have one heroic unit doing, well, mythical and legendary things, I agree. Maybe it'll happen. I mean, whilst there's plenty of historical periods left for war-waging, Total War has always had the possibility of expanding in a mythical direction.

Ever since playing Empire, I have been wishing for either a mod or a new TW game based on the Temeraire books.

I might join up, but so far I have been unable to connect to a single match, aka I can't get multiplayer to work.

Hm. Does the game auto-kick people with lag? That might be the case.

I don't think so. Just add me to steam and we'll see if we can get it to work.

HAHAHAHAHAHA yesssss

The Oda captured the Black Ship, then attacked me with it as a part of their fleet. It was undercrewed and badly damaged. Guess what I captured.

As an added bonus, I noticed after it surrendered, whenever I went back to look at it (it's frigging massive) I heard the crew singing together, almost as if they were trying to raise their spirits. No joke, nice touch.

Well, I just had a supremely epic battle.

2 full stacks of Chosokabe (me) and 1.5 stacks of Ito (literally made them my vassal the turn before) vs 3 full stacks of Shoni and 2 of Oda (not quite sure how that alliance happened) all duking it out in a lowest level Shoni town.

Playing with DarthMod this battle lasted 152 minutes from start to finish, and left a grand total of 16,753 troops dead.  I'm gonna go grab a cuppa now.

Note to self: Bring catapults next time.

Hmm, anyone else kinda regretting buying the Ikko Ikki DLC?  I really was expecting something a little more substantial.
