It's a fair amount of content, and for 5$ is one of the cheapest DCL's I've seen ever.  As for not being playable, I personally don't feel that the ikko fit all that well as  a player character in game, they are kind of like the wako pirates, really annoying aggressive bastards that you have to deal with, and they are one of the biggest late game threats I find due to the increased unit numbers they get.

This game looks better all the time. As soon as I can afford it I'll finally have to take the plunge.

The wako pirates are the red clanless ships that harass your ports and trade ships.

I'll certainly agree that they should of included it with the original game, but my fascination with the group is enough that I can shrug it off as an annoying inconvenience. I've never seen them as a problem late-game, though. In my current campaign they're actually my only ally left after the shogunate declared me as a threat, which is, in a matter of speaking, Awesome to the Max. For perspective, I went with Uesugi as a pre-Ikko Ikki proxy for ruling over the land with warrior monks.

What. Well I guess that could happen if either you ignore the naval aspect, or make a habit of never using less than 5-6 ships on every stack of ships you have.

Also Uesugi yari and archer troops are pretty damn amazing. I tried a custom battle of Oda ashigaru Vs Uesugi troops, with a (I think 10k koku? Whatever the default is) spending limit. This meant the Oda side had around triple the units total. I thought I was screwed at first, but I ended up destroying them. Neat.

The Uesugi have an insanely high DPS rate on thier troops, but also really low defence, so whatever you do, do not tangle with alot of archers, gun units, or calvery with your monks, they will get seriously fucked up.  It also seems that sword units can eat through the Uesugi like no tommorrow, but overall the Uesugi kick ass in smallish scirmishes, and against swarm tatic opponents.

Eh, I'm not much into religious fanatics so I'll probably skip this DLC until it lowers to a 1.99 or something..be really nice if it was a dual DLC with Hattori included along with it. Plus Warrior Nun? Kind of a basic name...

I believe we're talking about full scale colonisation here.  You don't just leave all your shit in the van when you move house.

If I had one wish for Shogun 2, I think it would be that I wish there was more focus on individuals and not armies. Because that was what everyone cares about in the Sengoku period. Barely anyone actually cares about the battles, the armies, or what not. It was about the individual heroics and the individual leaders.

If Shogun 2 had found a way to make us care for each individual and their exploits, I think it would be perfect. As it is right now, I don't even bother learning the names of anyone in my control. Everyone is easily replaceable as it is. Even my daimyo is meaningless.

But it's a pretty lofty wish and I think it's out of the scope of an RTS like Shogun 2. Oh well, one can dream.

They did have singular units in the original Shogun but one bloke holding a bridge was kinda silly.

It'd still be cool if they went into a more 'myth and legend' type thing and you could have one heroic unit doing, well, mythical and legendary things, I agree. Maybe it'll happen. I mean, whilst there's plenty of historical periods left for war-waging, Total War has always had the possibility of expanding in a mythical direction.

well, there were games that explored that kind of combat. sadly dinasty warriors sucks and the total warrior franchise was nice in theory and horrible in execution.

I always used a rather big fleet, so i'm assuming the pirates just stayed away from me. Pirates are smart.

Maybe the modders will eventually do this. Although from what I understand, modding for the series has become more difficult as time has gone on. :( Possibly so it's easier to sell DLC.

Apparently not.

At the battle of Stamford Bridge (1066) a giant Norse axeman (possibly armed with a Dane Axe) blocked the narrow crossing, and single-handedly held up the entire Saxon army. The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle states that this axeman cut down up to 40 Englishmen. He was only defeated when an English soldier floated under the bridge in a half-barrel and thrust his spear through the laths in the bridge.
