My excitement about this is tempered by my anticipation of being nickled and dimed for DLC units.

This better not happen ¬_¬ Happy to have dlc expansions but not for tiny unit sets.

They already are making one faction only playable if you buy some pre-order version of it.

AI still dumber than bricks. I just saw a group of bow samurai standing in the firey crater of a siege weapon as if nothing happened. Bleh.

Too bad. I liked the STW and MTW most because of the atmosphere and because the AI could at least see the elevations and (usually) understood to not cavalry-charge your archers through a pike line. Also the provinces meant no exploiting the AI using bridges and other choke points as well as no using the killer stack "strategy".

I won't be buying this as I refuse to spend full price on a partial game with some bits locked away until further cash is handed over and even larger parts permanently inaccessible as punishment for not purchasing by a specific date.

preorder "bonuses" are a cancer on gaming and need to die.

Fairly certain that's scripted. :p

I agree, but this won't happen until retailers stop demanding them. Groups like walmart are too big for you to say no too.

And Walmart won't stop demanding them until consumers stop accepting them.  It's a vicious cycle.  And by cycle I mean line, leading directly to people who don't give a shit. :(

So after watching the intro again I realized the red samurai only has a Katana.

What kind of loser is he?  Oh look a side bar on the main menu with advertisements.

Collector's editions and such I can understand, just preordered one myself, but some ##### "limited editions" to the 1,000 quickest "VIP"s? Huh?

Knowing how crap the Total Wars after MTW I cant but wonder how that company is still up.  ::)

I can get pre-order bonuses if they are just small.....things you can live without without ever really being bothered by or noticeing. But an entire SIDE being reserved for pre-order is kinda bullshit.

Or they'll stifle the mod community.  I can see that happening too.

I can't see them stopping it though. Worst comes to worst, i'll buy the game, then download the DRM free version.

I've still brought the game, they can't complain

Didn't they already do that?
