I think the books are getting a lot of undeserved hate.

If you read it as a FANTASY book it sucks, but it isn't a fantasy book, it's a book about politics and culture and linguistics which just happens to take place in a parody fantasy universe. Also, the writing is nice, and which the exception of the main some characters are really compelling.
... or maybe I just got a crush on Saphira...

Armok's almost mastered the subtle art of sarcasm. I'm impressed.
Wait, what? I were stating my actual honest opinion; that how good or bad it is depends on how you read it and what parts you focus one. And that the movie made Saphira way hot.

Nope, it's working fine. However, I suspect that is the visual model, not the auditory one, so the beeping could only mean that someone has activated the remote self destruct mechanism. If I were you, I would retroactively destroy it before it explodes.

Except they're not at all about politics, culture or linguistics, and the universe isn't parody. So, you must be using your amazing newfound sarcasm ability on me. I love you, man.

Be that as it may with the authors original intentions, they still read much better if you assume that.

It also reads better if you assume both Eragon and Paolini are homosexual, but I'm hardly putting that forth as a way to read the books.

Oh, and that thread just got endorsed by a moderator on those forums. I don't think I can reply to it, anymore.

I read the first two when I was ten and eleven and loved the hell out of them. Now my horizons have been sufficiently broadened I really, really don't like these books. Run of the mill uninspired fantasy that tries to take too much 'inspiration' from other sources and does it waaaay to blatantly.
