Underdog games
« on: May 27, 2010, 10:12:38 pm »

To be specific, I'd like to play a game where you are constantly on the verge of losing, and have to hide and evade most of the time, but every once in a while or over time you gain strength and make an attack on "insert enemy here" and slowly turn the tides.

But I'm a fan of most underdog type games so post any you know.

Yeah I see what you mean, but the story needs to be looser. They can't take territory back and it's linear.

What about RTS style games?

Iron grip and Call of Cthulhu seem more like (I can slaughter dozens of guy's by myself)

I'm not sure what Call of Cthulhu you're talking about, but the only one I know usually involves regular people trying (and almost always failing) to survive against unnameable horrors from beyond this dimension (or just from really far out in space).

Call of Cthulhu refers to a pen and paper role playing game where you valiantly fail in struggle against unfathomable horrors.  If there's a game play video, it's of some Call of Cthulhu inspired game.

x-com kinda fits the bill to a T. you start out with pea shooter armed flesh bags that would sooner die from their own misguided bullets than survive to a ripe old age. The enemy is armed with devastating weapons and technology.

on the easier difficulties its not so bad but if you play on the harder difficulties, you will find yourself unable to win most early missions and will have to resort to taking what little technology you can for research and booking it. once you research some of the alien weapons (which work pretty well against most of them) or better human technology based weapons and armor, the tides slowly turn until it is the aliens that cant seem to catch a break.

cyber disks, crysilids, mutons, ethreals and sectopods will be almost unstoppable on the hardest difficulty.

Call of Cthulhu is referring to the Call of Cthulhu video game. It's pretty neat, mostly for the chase scenes.

That's actually possible now that I actually have access to a desktop on a regular basis again.  I'll need to redo all my setting work however.  And I think this time I'm going to go for online storage instead of keeping it on a hard drive that's just waiting to go kaput.  But it's actually possible now.

I fear there is no game that can fulfill my wishes  :(

Why can't someone make a game where your a necromancer in a huge map where 3 kingdoms are waging war and you use your necro apprentice powers to start off by zombifying rabbits or something and use them to take down bigger things along with surviving in the wild while searching and gathering food, and avoiding dieing from pretty much anything with fangs until you zombify something with fangs. Then you eventually get strong enough to take down soldiers and begin making an army, or maybe hide in a town and do some research, eventually having the kingdoms take notice of you and sending enemies, some which you have to evade until you are strong enough.

All with a ridiculously huge tech tree that will take several replay's to discover all the skills and an RTS/FPS style game play.

Why?
