Well, I think this is ignorant on all sides. It's incredibly ignorant of the people at the committee who assume that Muslims are all Jihadists, and it's incredibly ignorant of the Cordoba to assume it'll fair well to build a mosque in an area that is made special by attacks by jihadists.

Inconvenient though it is to some of us, a mosque should be built in America as easily as a new Roman Catholic cathedral. Living in Indiana I have no national concern over this matter as it is happening in another city, in another state. If a New Yorker wishes to petition or protest or rant or rally, that's New York's politics, not America's.

Actually, this works somewhat differently:

First they discriminated Muslims and I didn't complain as I am not a Muslim.
Then they discriminated Mormons and I didn't complain as I am not a Mormon.
Then they discriminated my people and there was no one left to help us :(

I don't know what I'm saying there. I don't think I have a motive. I just think it would be hilarious to have a big building with every single churchybuilding around it, like a mall food court. Or all built inside each other like nesting dolls.

You know, I'd be interested in seeing whether a scientology building (do they even have an equivalent of churches?) would draw more or less resistance than the mosque. I think more, but who knows.

As the New York Times pointed out, there's a strip-club two blocks from the WTC plaza, that did indeed open in the past few years.  Something tells me this is a very specific brand of reactionary-ism.
