Well, in that case, I couldn't agree more. It IS very difficult to predict. Though, in this case, having to do with computers, I would say that it a matter of overestimating the time it will take, rather than underestimation. I believe this because I have see so many old adds/studies/news articles that mention that we may be able to fit a computer into a living room by the Year 2000! Nearly every prediction we make becomes truth YEARS before we predicted.

Reading the posts about Neurogrid and memristors (and a few research papers I was able to dig up (cause I roll like that)) really helps to punch home my point. 1 million neurons at 1 watt? friggin amazing! and add in the ability to make a ram stick that's (forgive any sloppy math) 640nm in size? Yes plz!
