Some sort of hybrid between X-COM and Dwarf fortress. With the most difficult bits of both.  :o

So, the horrifying, anyone-can-die gameplay style of XCOM, combined with DF's awful military system?

YOU MONSTER.

I absolutely agree with Capntastic there.
But wait, maybe this means Dwarf Fortress with some questionable 3D graphics to make your eyes bleed... now I AM scared. :) :) :) :)

Fuck, Chrysallids in Dwarf Fortress would be a nightmare. They would tear through your entire fortress in less than 30 frames.

I was thinking more about mind control.  So much for walling yourself in to prevent disaster.

Edit:

Civilian: "Hi Urist McUberaxeman! Nice grub today eh?"
Urist: "Yeah it's pretty-" (dwiiiiiiiioiiiing!)

Urist McUberAxeman has gone berserk!

Civilian has bled to death.
Civilian has bled to death.
Civilian has gone berserk!
Civilian has bled to death.
Civilian has bled to death.
Civilian has gone berserk!
Civilian has bled to death.
Civilian has bled to death.

(specifically the civilian berserk.   Dear god rocket berserk chain was horrifying in X-COM)

Oh, god. I could handle just about any ridiculous amount of Fun XCOM could throw at me, but mind control was just maddening.

Think you've survived that 30 goblin archer siege with your maze of stonefall traps and your brilliant magma moat?

Turn-Based Tactical Combat in Dwarf Fortress?

You know, if the military system was replaced by that I would be happy as hell.

And kill the FPS.

If Chysallids existed in Dwarf Fortress, they would eat your entire world in less than 30 frames. Well, unless the popular theory that  the Chrysallid DNA-equivilant breaks down after a few generations is true. I guess we would know what makes evil areas then. Hmm, but who would be who....

Oh, god. I could handle just about any ridiculous amount of Fun XCOM could throw at me, but mind control was just maddening.
The key is, each unit has a hidden variable for their psionic resistance, that you can't see until later on when you get a lab and train them.  But, you can tell approximately how resistant someone is, simply by how easily they're affected by psionic attacks.  So those recruits that get easily mind controlled, will always be vulnerable to it, so just kill them off immediately, or at least fire them if they make it back to base alive, since they're just a liability.  That way, after a while of culling off the weak ones, only those with a high resistance to mind control will be left alive. :)  After you can build the psi lab, you can hire large groups of soldiers and train them to know their exact number, and keep all the high mental strength ones, and fire the rest, to keep a well mentally fortified army.
