Realmsbolted Succession Game (Version 0.31.03)
« on: May 25, 2010, 06:27:41 pm »

Hi. I'm new to the forums and to Dwarf Fortress. I've only been playing for a month or so and I'm not to good. Ever since I started I've always wanted to start a succession game.

First things first.

Rules:
Each turn lasts one-year/one week IRL.
If your turn takes to long we'll skip you and revert to the previous save
If you doom the fortress on pupose we'll revert to the previous save

Sign-up sheet:
1:UmbrageOfSnow
2:Pentigan
3:lishain
4:Put (current)
5:Arni
6:TatersAndTots
7:ravin3
8:evilgenius21
9:mathlc
10:UmbrageOfSnow
11:Zaius
12:breadbocks
13" Pieisgoo

Before we start does anyone have any preferences of where we embark? It'll be a 4 by 4 embark area.
Here's a picture of the map:

If you want to join just tell me.
We'll start after we get 5 people and we pick an area we'll start.

I'll join.

FYI, first post!

Anywhere with both stone and soil is fine with me.

They're actually a special ore. Instead of being mined, they're hunted from between the trees and instead of producing metal, they produce food: rhesus pieces.

I'll join in. Not to good with complex things, but I have automated defense down (I think).

I'd also like to join in. Also, I'd recommend a terrifying area. Preferably near an ocean. Skeletal whales always provide endless amounts of "fun."  :D

EDIT: Also, how long do we have to get our turns in?

Seconded, although skeletal yeti are Fun-er. I suggest the one-year/one week IRL method.

There is nothing as lovely as a skeletal yeti discovering and beating an goblin ambush :D

I've also never played a succession game and would love to, count me in please.

Maybe controlling a fortress that has been built for several years without my graph paper notebook overthinking would get me out of whatever comfortable box I'm sure I live in.

My only request would be some form of sourced water, Ocean > River > Stream > Aquifer :o, whatever.

Count me in!

Also? how will be the embark area???

Terrifying\haunted?
Magma???
Water??
Aquifier??
Freezing\cold

i would vote for a terrifying biome with magma, water,no aquifier and freezing ftw...

We could have an aquifer if we are in a freezing biome. All you need is to expose the aqufier to the air, IE dig a big shaft down into the aquifer. Then you channel the top layer of stone and the water that flows in will freeze. Dig through the solid ice and channel the next layer. That one freezes too. Repeat until your through.

Is this a good embark site for you guys? By the way it's a warm terifying ocean. It'll be really FUN what with the fact that we'll be fending off zombie whales and unicorns and such.

Just so you know I can't really breach aquafirs so one of you would have to do it.

Also sure we'll use the one-year/one week IRL method.

I have no clue how to do aquifers either, but so far I'm ok with it.
Anyone else have any  objections?
